Material rates are configured at the project level. When set up correctly, Tread will automatically apply the right buy and sell prices to each order based on the material and pickup site selected — no manual entry needed each day.
Adding a Material
In the Materials section of your project, select the material you will be hauling (e.g., Fill Sand) and enter the total quantity ordered for the project (e.g., 1,000 tons).
Setting Buy and Sell Prices
If you track material costs and want to define what you pay versus what you charge your customer, you can add buy and sell prices per material. You can also link each price to a specific pickup site.
This is useful when the same material is being picked up from different locations at different costs.
Example:
Bayside Quarry — Buy price: $5/ton, Sell price: $10/ton
Montgomery Site — Buy price: $8/ton, Sell price: $12/ton
To set this up:
Select your material (e.g., Fill Sand) and enter the quantity (e.g., 1,000 tons).
Link it to a pickup site (e.g., Bayside Quarry) and enter the buy and sell prices for that site.
To add the same material from a second pickup site, add another material entry with the same material, a different quantity, and the second site's pickup location and prices.
How It Works on Orders
When you create an order and select a material with a specific pickup site, Tread will automatically apply the buy and sell prices configured for that site and material combination. If you change the pickup site on the order, the prices will update automatically to match the correct configuration.
💡 If you want your downstream invoices to show freight rates and material costs as separate line items, enable that option at the order level when creating the order.
