PLEASE NOTE: METRC has recently introduced updates and additional requirements to manually upload sales or adjustments:

  • Columns A-W need to remain

    • Insert a new column between columns A and B to represent ‘External Receipt #’

  • Columns Y-AF can be deleted

  • Cells in Columns O-W need to have double quotation marks [""]

NOTE: Manually uploading CSVs into METRC should only be used as a last resort to resolve stuck tasks that remain after first resending tasks from METRC Control. Please verify any edits you make to the CSV for accuracy before importing it to METRC. If further assistance is required, please contact support.

Uploading Stuck Sales to METRC

In this section, you’ll export a CSV of the remaining sales, make any necessary corrections, and manually upload them into METRC.

Step 1: Navigate to Inventory > Compliance Management > METRC Control

Step 2: Click the vertical 3 dots in the upper right-hand corner and then click Export Sales.

Step 3: Open the CSV that downloads to your computer in your preferred editing software.

Step 4: Verify the information is complete and correct in Columns A - H. Some data points to check:

Patient/Caregiver License Number

If the sale is Medical:

  • Customer Type (Column B) should be 'Patient'.
In Michigan, this field may also be 'ExternalPatient' if the patient's license is from a different state.

  • Patient License Number (Column C) is required. If a caregiver purchased on behalf of a patient, Caregiver License Number (Column D) is also required.

  • Patient License Number must be free from any special characters.

If the sale is Recreational:

  • Customer Type (Column B) should be 'Consumer'.

  • Patient License Number (Column C) and Caregiver License Number (Column D) should be blank.

Package
If a package is no longer under your license in METRC, you’ll be unable to report any sales on it. Check that the package has not been transferred out to another license by searching for the package number in the ‘Active’ packages tab of your METRC portal.

If this is the case, remove the package’s lines from the CSV before uploading.

Step 5: Delete the header row and Columns I-U. Then Save your changes to the CSV.

Step 6: Navigate to METRC and log in.
Tip: This process requires the appropriate permissions to View and Edit sales.

Step 7: Click the Data Import icon in the upper right-hand corner.

Step 8: Scroll to the tab Sales (New) and click Select files…

Step 9: Locate and click your edited sale CSV and click Upload.

Step 10: After the upload completes, navigate back to the METRC Control page. Select the sales you just uploaded into METRC by checking the box on each sale’s row and click the Dismiss button.

NOTE: You cannot undo a Dismissal! Make sure you verify this action carefully before taking it.

Uploading Stuck Sales in METRC - MI ONLY

PLEASE NOTE the following for MI ONLY:

  • AU sales should be sent as 'Consumer' Customer Type (Column B). There will be no Patient License number or Caregiver License number associated with these Adult Use sales.

  • Medical sales should be sent as either 'Patient' (in-state) or 'External Patient' (out-of-state) Customer Type (Column B) and must contain an associated Patient License number (Column C)

  • Additionally, External Patients must have the Identification Method of 'Out of State MMJ ID Card' (Column E).

  • Remove Columns X through AF prior to uploading to METRC.

  • Delete any rows above the first sale entry. Leaving the Column Header names or any other information above the first sale entry on this CSV will cause the upload to fail.

  • Add ',' to all cells that are blank in all cells except those in Column K and Column M.

  • For Column K and Column M, if you do not have information to provide in the cells, leave them blank; adding commas to these cells will cause the manual upload to fail.

Uploading Stuck Adjustments to METRC

In this phase, you’ll export a CSV of the remaining transactions, make any necessary corrections, and manually upload them into METRC.

Step 1: Navigate to Inventory > Compliance Management > METRC Control

Step 2: Click the vertical 3 dots in the upper right-hand corner and then click Export Adjustments.

Step 3: Open the CSV that downloads to your computer in your preferred editing software.

Step 4: Verify the information is complete and correct in Columns A - G. Some data points to check:

Package
If a package is no longer under your license in METRC you’ll be unable to report any sales on it. Check that the package has not been transferred out to another license by searching for the package number in the ‘Active’ packages tab of your METRC portal.

If this is the case, remove the package’s lines from the CSV before uploading.

Step 5: Delete the header row and Columns H-M.

Step 6: Enter your employee number in Column G, and Save your changes to the CSV.
Tip: All employees of a dispensary are required to have a unique identification number. These are assigned internally, not by regulators or METRC. If you don’t know your employee number, contact your store’s manager or compliance department. We recommend storing employee numbers on their User Management profile for easy reference.

Step 7: Navigate to METRC and log in.
Tip: This process requires the appropriate permissions to View and Edit sales.

Step 8: Click the Data Import icon in the upper right-hand corner.

NOTE: You cannot undo a Dismissal! Make sure you verify this action carefully before taking it.
