The Discount Report is a valuable tool to help you better understand the breakdown of how and what discounts have been used at your shop. This report gives you insight into all discounts applied by:

  • Discount type

  • Customer group

  • Employee who applied the discount

  • Total dollar amount discounted

  • Numbers of products discounted

This article will cover how to navigate the report, as well as explain what information can be found in each tab.

Navigating the Discount Report

Tabs

The Discount Report is made up of 4 tabs displayed at the top of the screen. Each tab displays a different table of information about discounts used at your shop.

Filters and Sorting

Clicking the blue filter button will display available filters for the tab you’re viewing and expand the available search bars so you can quickly find the data you’re looking for. These are shown under each column header.

Each tab can also be filtered for a specific time period using the date and time filters on the upper right-hand side of the screen or by selecting a preset date range from the filter button dropdown. By default, each report shows data for all 24 hours (e.g., 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM).

The time filter will filter for a start and end range per day. In the example above, the report would display data from 6:00 AM - 10:00 PM on January 2nd, January 3rd, and so on for every day until February 3rd.

You can also sort each column (by amount or alphabetically, depending on the information in the column) by clicking the sort arrows to the right of the column headers. Click the sort arrow again to change the direction of the sort.

Time Range Filter - Max Range

The Time Range Filter has a max range of 3 months. This does not mean you cannot get info from more than 3 months in the past, it means you can only pool data for 3 months at a time. For instance, you would first need to pull the data from January- March, export it. Then change the range from April-June, then export that.

Snapshot

At the top of each report is a snapshot overview of the data in the main table below. The snapshot will adjust accordingly when filters are applied.

NOTE: It can take up to 30 seconds after a transaction is completed for the reports to reflect the updated data.

Export/Print

You can also export or print any of these reports by clicking the ‘…’ in the upper right-hand corner of the screen.

  • The export will contain some additional detailed information not visible from the Discount Report, such as customer information and the times the ticket changed statuses.

  • Printing will include all expanded rows at the time of printing.

NOTE: Discount Report exports have a separate row for each discount applied to an item or order. All rows representing discounts from the same order have the same amount in the ‘Gross Sales’ column because this column reflects the gross sales for the ticket. If you were to sum this column in an export, the amount would be higher than your actual gross sales. Gross sales or gross sales after discounts are visible in each row or in the snapshot bar above the main table.

Discount Log

The discount log is a list of all the discounts used by POS Ticket and includes details about each transaction. Simply click the small > arrow to scroll across the columns.

TIP: Filters are particularly helpful in this tab for narrowing down a large amount of information.

Example: How much have topicals been discounted this month?

Use the date filter button to enter your desired date range. In the 'Product Type' column, open the dropdown > select only Topical > click Apply. Reference the result in the 'Discounts' section of the snapshot summary, with more details on the inventory in the main table.

Discount Type

This tab shows a breakdown of discounts by discount type. The main table displays a row for each discount type, and the rows can be expanded to view a further breakdown of the information:

  • Discount Type: The category of discount applied. (e.g. Tier Pricing Discount, POS Discount, Tier Discount, Automatic Discount)

  • Discount Method: How the discount is structured to lower the price. (e.g. Percentage, Dollar Amount)

  • Discount Title: The title of the discount applied. (e.g. $5 OFF, 10% OFF)

From the Discount Title view, you can view a complete list of the POS tickets a discount was applied to by clicking the arrow on the far right side of the row. This will take you to the Discount Log and automatically apply the necessary filters.

Example: How much has our 10% Veteran Discount saved customers this year to date?

Use the date filter dropdown to select This Year. Using the arrows on the left-hand side of the page, expand the Veterans row > expand the Percent row. Reference the 'Discounts' column on the appropriate 'Discount Title' (whatever your shop has named the 10% automatic discount for veterans) line for the result.

Customer Group

This tab shows a breakdown of discounts by customer groups. Keep in mind that this report shows all the tickets discounted arranged by customer group, not just discounts targeting a specific customer group. (e.g. If a senior customer received the Senior Discount and a 10% Off Edibles promotion, these would both show under the Senior group in this report.) The main table displays a row for each customer group discount, and the rows can be expanded to view a further breakdown of the information:

  • Customer Group: The name of the Patient Group the discount applies to. (e.g. SENIOR, EMPLOYEE, VETERAN, STUDENT)

  • Discount Method: The way the discount operates.

Example: Did our shop give more discounts to Seniors or Students this quarter?

Use the date filter to set the desired timeframe. Click the filter button to open available filters and searches. In the 'Customer Group' column, select only Seniors and Students. Then, sort the 'Discounts' column in descending order (the sort arrow will point down) and reference the top result in that column.

Employee

This tab shows a breakdown of discounts by employee who applied the discounts. The main table displays a row for each employee, and the rows can be expanded to view a further breakdown of the information:

  • Employee: The employee who applied the discounts. (e.g. Morgan Treeman, Reefer Sutherland)

  • Discount Type: The category of discount applied. (e.g. POS Discount, Tier Discount, Automatic Discount)

  • Discount Method: The way the discount operates.

Example: What’s the total amount employee Willy Bongka discounted last week?

Use the date filter dropdown to select Last Week. Click the filter button to open available filters and searches. In the 'Employee' column, enter 'Willy Bongka' and hit the Enter button on your keyboard to search. Reference the 'Discounts' column line for the result, and expand the Willy Bongka row for a breakdown of the discounts.

Example: How much has employee Kim Karhashian discounted using the discretionary 5% POS Discount?

Click the filter button to open available filters and searches. In the 'Employee' column, enter 'Kim Karhashian' and hit the Enter button on your keyboard to search. Using the arrows on the left-hand side of the page, expand the Kim Karhashian row > expand the POS Discount row > expand the Percent row. Reference the 'Discounts' column on the appropriate 'Discount Title' (whatever your shop has named the 5% POS discount) line for the result.
