Where does the data come from?

Trendier collects data directly from e-commerce channels — product listings, prices, reviews, and consumer signals. Sources outside e-commerce, like news, social media, or academic research, are not part of Trendier's current scope.

E-commerce data as the single source

Trendier's data comes from one source category: e-commerce channels. This includes product listings, pricing, rankings, reviews, and consumer signals collected directly from each platform's PDPs and review systems.
For the detailed breakdown of data types available, and how they vary by channel, see "What data is available for each channel?"

What's out of current scope

The following are not part of Trendier's data sources today:

  • Industry news and press coverage

  • Academic research and patent data

  • Social media buzz and influencer data

  • Celebrity endorsements and media impressions

  • Website traffic data

These sources may be considered for future updates as Trendier's scope expands.

Common follow-up questions

Why only e-commerce data?
E-commerce data captures actual consumer behavior — purchases, reviews, and product launches in real time. This makes trend signals observable and traceable rather than inferred from secondary sources.

Does Trendier estimate or infer data?
No. Trendier reports observed data from e-commerce channels — it does not estimate or model unobserved data. See "How accurate is Trendier's data?" for more on this principle.

How often is data updated?
Trendier captures data daily from each channel. User-facing data updates roll up on a weekly or less-frequent cadence depending on the data type. Your account manager can confirm specifics for any channel you depend on.

Will Trendier add news, social, or other data sources?
These data sources aren't part of Trendier's current scope, but their addition is being considered for future updates.
