Understanding the data flow when a product is shared by the Supplier

Learn how data flows when a Supplier shares a product, editable vs. locked elements and why synchronization stops with certain changes.

When a Supplier shares/publishes a product to a Business, it is essential to understand how data flows between both parties and what elements of the product can be modified. This process involves specific guidelines that determine what the Business can and cannot change in the product and how updates made by both parties will be reflected.

1. Ownership of the product:

The product is owned by the Supplier. This means that any updates or changes made by the Supplier will be reflected on the Business's version of the product.

2. Locked elements:

Some fields, such as Schedule(s) and Pricing, will be locked and greyed out for the Business. These elements can only be viewed, not edited or updated by the Business.

3. Editable elements:

The Business can make changes to certain fields, like the Product Name, Content & Media section and other specified elements. These fields are not locked and can be updated by the Business.

Important note:

Αny changes made by the Business, will not be reflected on the Supplier's version of the product.

4. Impact of changes by the Business & Cease in synchronization:

The Business is allowed to make changes to specific fields, such as the Product Name, Content & Media and Terms & Conditions. However, if the Business modifies any of these elements, future changes made by the Supplier to these specific fields will not be reflected on the Business's product.

Important note:

This happens because once the Business edits these fields, the data synchronization between the Supplier's and the Business's dashboards will stop for these elements.

The reason for this is to ensure that the Business's changes are preserved and not overwritten by Supplier updates, preventing potential conflicts or confusion between the two parties' versions of the product.

5. Product status on the Business dashboard:

  • When a product is shared by the Supplier, it will appear as Offline on the Business's dashboard. Even if the Supplier has set the product status to Online, the Business must manually change it to Online for it to appear on the widget. This ensures that the Business can verify all product details are accurate and everything is in order before going live and making the product available to customers.

  • The product status will only be reflected on the Business's dashboard if the Supplier changes it to Offline. Any other status changes, such as either party changing the status to Online, will not affect the other party's version.

  • If the Supplier has set the product to Offline, the Business will not be able to change its version of the product to Online.

  • If the Business changes the status to Offline, the Supplier’s version of the product will not be affected.
