How to create discounts

Learn how to create discount packages to promote products and enhance bookings.

Discounts allow the creation of promotional pricing rules for products, sessions, participants or entire transactions. They can help increase bookings, promote specific services, reward customers with special offers and encourage repeat purchases.

How to set it up

Step 1: Navigate to More > Marketing from left hand-side menu.

Step 2: Click New Discount in the top right hand-side of the page.

Step 3: Complete the required fields.

1. Configure the general information

Name

Enter a name for the discount.

Active

Enable this option to activate the discount so that it can be applied to the product’s price and displayed during the booking process.

Category

Select the type of discount from the available options:

  • Offer: Applies the discount to the booking total.

  • Coupon: Applies the discount to the booking total when a coupon code is entered during checkout.

  • Participant Offer: Applies the discount based on the number of participants included in the booking.

  • Session Offer: Applies the discount based on the number of booked sessions.

  • Transaction Offer: Applies a discount automatically to the entire transaction and can be applied to all products. In this case the option to select all products is available without having to also select the prices.

  • Transaction Coupon: Applies a discount to the entire transaction when a coupon code is entered during checkout. In this case the option to select all products is available without having to also select the prices.

Important note:

To create discounts for shared products (products created and owned by a supplier or another business), use either the Transaction Offer or Transaction Coupon category, depending on whether a coupon code is required.

Description

Enter a description of the discount.

Example: Summer Offer - 20% discount on tours during June.

2. Configure the date availability

Date Type

Select how the discount availability should be configured.

  • Season Period: Use this option to define a continuous date range and select the applicable weekdays.

Example: From March 1, 2021 to March 31, 2021 for all days of the week.

  • Fixed Dates: Use this option to apply the discount only on specific dates.

    Example: March 5, March 15, May 1.

3. Configure the time availability

Time Type

Select how the discount time availability should be configured.

  • Time Period: Use this option to define a continuous time range.

Example: From 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM

  • Fixed Hours: Use this option to apply the discount only at specific times.

    Example: 10:00 AM, 12:00 PM, 6:00 PM

4. Select products & prices

Products

Select the products and prices to which the discount will apply.

Prices

Select whether the discount should be calculated as:

  • A fixed monetary amount

  • A percentage

Then enter the appropriate value.

5. Configure additional discount elements

Participant & Session Offers

If the Participant Offer or Session Offer is selected as the Category, define the minimum and maximum number of participants or sessions required for the discount to apply.

Transaction Offer

If the Transaction Offer is selected:

  • The discount can be applied to all products without selecting individual prices.

  • A maximum discount amount can also be configured.

Example: If the discount is set to 50% with a maximum discount cap of €40, and the booking total is €100:

    • The calculated discount would normally be €50.

    • Since the maximum discount is capped at €40, only €40 will be applied.

    • The final booking total will therefore be €60.

Transaction Coupon

If Transaction Coupon is selected:

  • The discount can be applied to all products without selecting individual prices.

  • Specific products can also be excluded from the discount.

  • Alternatively, the discount can be configured to apply only to selected products or categories.

Step 4: Once all settings have been configured, click SAVE.

Notes:

  • A coupon can be applied to a product that already has a discount applied.

  • Discounts appear on the widget calendar or/and during checkout depending on the selected category.
