What does “Regenerate” mean in Billing?

Invoices

Regenerating an invoice allows you to update certain client details on an invoice after it has already been paid.

When can I regenerate an invoice?

You can regenerate an invoice after it has been marked as paid.

To do this:

  • Go to Billing

  • Locate the invoice

  • Click the menu (⋯) on the invoice line

  • Select Regenerate

What information gets updated?

When you regenerate an invoice, it will update any client details that have changed since the invoice was originally created, such as:

  • Client name

  • Date of Birth

  • Insurance details

What does NOT get updated?

Regenerating an invoice does not update line item details, including:

  • Appointment or service dates

  • Descriptions

  • Procedure or ICD codes

  • Pricing

What if I need to update line item details?

If you need to update any of the above, you will need to create a Stand-alone invoice.

Stand-alone invoices are not tied to a service, so you will need to manually enter:

  • Procedure codes

  • Description

  • Price

  • Date of service

Best practice

After creating a Stand-alone invoice, it is recommended to:

  • Delete the original paid invoice

This helps avoid having duplicate invoices for the same date of service.
