Product: TrueCommerce Home (for Retailer)
TrueCommerce Home provides Retailer users with the visibility into how Vendors connect to the portal, particularly regarding their Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) capabilities. The types of vendor connection are indicated in the MOD (Method of Delivery) column, including E, W, and D. Let’s delve deeper into each of these indicators to understand what they mean!
Where to Find the MOD Column
You can find the MOD column within the Document Management menu.
From the portal for Retailer, select the Document Management menu.
In the main grid, locate the MOD column, which displays the E, W, and D indicators corresponding to each Vendor.
NOTE: The meanings of each indicator are presented in the next section.
Understanding E, W, and D Indicators
E – Electronic Data Interchange
The E in the MOD column stands for EDI, indicating that the Vendor is utilizing EDI capabilities for their connection to TrueCommerce Home. Here are the key attributes of this connection type:
Capable of EDI: The Vendor either has an EDI provider or can manage EDI transactions in-house.
X12 data training: When this indicator is selected, it implies that the Vendor can process X12 data, a standard format used in electronic transactions
Layer of translation: The presence of an E indicates that there is an additional layer of translation and connection between TrueCommerce Home and the Vendor to get the Retailers’ data transferred.
NOTE: Retailer users can access raw EDI data for Vendors marked with E in the MOD column. Simply hover over the VIEW link in the Raw Data column to see the details. For more information, check out this article!
W – Web Portal
The W signifies a Web portal. This means the Vendor is using the TrueCommerce Home portal as their primary means of connectivity. Key features of this connection type are:
Web-based access: Vendor utilizing the W option can access the portal to manage orders and process return documents.
D – Direct Shipment
The D in the MOD column denotes a Direct connection, which signifies the following distinctions:
XML translation or direct flat file integrations; This option generally involves Vendors using XML translation or direct flat file integrations with TrueCommerce Home.
Data transfer: The D connection means that data is being exchanged in a manner that might differ from standard EDI practices, leading to variations in how data is presented or processed.
Visibility into data: Retailers may experience differing levels of visibility into the transactions or data flows compared to EDI or Web connections.
