Product: TrueCommerce Home (for Retailer)

TrueCommerce Home supports functionality for Retailer users to view how data is translated into raw EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) format. This article explains the importance of accessing EDI translated data, steps to view this information within the portal, and how to seek support if you face challenges.

What is EDI?

Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) is an automated, secure exchange of electronic documents such as purchase orders, invoices, and delivery notes between businesses or trading partners. Utilizing standardized formats, EDI facilitates communication between different computer systems, minimizing the likelihood of errors that can occur with manual data entry.

Why View EDI Translated Data?

Following are some reasons why Retailer users might find it necessary to have access to EDI translated data:

  • verifying the accuracy of the information sent to Vendors, thus reducing the risk of errors that could impact business

  • reviewing data formats and contents, making sure that the Vendors will fulfill your order requirements

  • tracking exactly what data has been sent, including the timestamp and format, which can serve as a reference for resolving issues or disputes in the future.

How to View EDI Translated Data

The VIEW option within the Document Management menu allows Retailer users to access and review raw EDI data. This feature is necessary for Retailers who want the visibility into translated data that they have sent to their Vendors.

Follow these steps:

  1. From the portal for Retailer, select Document Management.

  2. Hover over the VIEW link in the Raw Data column of the document that you want to view.

NOTE: The VIEW link is only visible in the data rows of Vendors that are marked with an E in the MOD (Method of Delivery) column. The E indicator signifies that these Vendors are equipped with EDI capabilities connected to TrueCommerce Home. For more information on the E indicator, check out this article.
