How to get started? (Expect this to take 5-10 minutes ).

Download the latest version of the True Energy app from App Store or Google Play and plug the charge cable into your car.

If you do not already have a VW WeConnectID account, you must create one and add your car. You can find it in Apple Store or in Google Play .

In the True Energy app, follow these 3 simple steps.

1. Add your car. You will be asked to connect to your VW WeConnect ID account

2. Add your charge box. You will find it on the list, and can then "connect" to it

3. Add a charging rule. You can make one for each day - or one for weekdays and one
for weekends

We now charge your car according to the preferences you have set under your charge rules. This means that when you get home and plug the charge cable into your car, we make sure your car is charged the following day - cheapest or greenest - according to your preferences.

Already have a car and a charging box set up in the app?

Then there are two options:

  1. You don't need to do anything. Continue to use the app and enter the battery level (State of Charge) as before.

  2. Delete your car and charge box in the app and then follow the instructions above. If you do this, it means that you will avoid having to enter the car's battery level (SoC) in the future. However, this also means that you will lose your charge history.

IMPORTANT!

When charging at home:

Now you can smart charge your ID.3 ID.4 or ID.5 with the True Energy app, regardless of which charge box you have.

When charging in public:

When you need to charge at a public stand, you don't need to smart charge, but instead you need to charge quickly and immediately.

Once you have plugged in the charge cable, open the True Energy app and click "Boost charging". After this, charging starts immediately and your charge rule is overridden. We recommend that you use "Boost charging", as it ensures that you automatically return to your charge rules so that your car is charged the next time you plug in your charge cable at home.

You can also turn on "Manual mode". You will find it under Cars and the Name of your car. Manual mode overrides your charge rule, so always remember to switch off Manual mode again to activate your charge rules again.
