Step by step guide for adding DNS records in Namecheap

Updated over a month ago

This step-by-step guide will walk you through adding DNS records in the DNS section of your Namecheap domain.

Start Domain Verification

Head over to your Account Settings, and scroll down to the Domains section.

Click the ADD DOMAIN button to get started.

Enter the email that you'd like to use to send email review requests through TrueReview.

For example, if you want the customer to receive the email request from "hello@toplevelproperties.co" enter it into the input field and click "Add and verify..."

(You can customize the "From" name from your Account Settings)

Important: You must have access to your domain's DNS settings in order to configure a custom domain.

You cannot send email requests using a Gmail, Yahoo, or any third party email providers.

Copy the CNAME and TXT records and add them to your domain's DNS records.

Add DNS records in Namecheap

From your Namecheap dashboard, click MANAGE for the domain name you want to verify.

Click the Advanced DNS tab:

Click the ADD NEW RECORD button and add three (3) CNAME records, and one (1) TXT record:

Back in your TrueReview Account Settings, hover over the Host and Value and click COPY.

Paste the copied records in Namecheap, making sure to add the correct Host and Value in the appropriate input fields:

Note: when you copy the host name and paste it into Namecheap, make sure you delete the dot and domain name at the end, otherwise it will not work. Namecheap will automatically append the domain name to the Host.

Click SAVE ALL CHANGES

Go back to TrueReview, and click Continue

Once the DNS records are verified, you will see a success message.

Click Configure Sender Email to change the email to the one that was just verified.

Important: DNS verification may take up to 24 hours. If everything is set up correctly, please allow time for your domain provider to process the changes.

If the DNS records have not yet processed, you will see a Failed Verification modal.

If the DNS records have been added correctly, wait 24 hours, then come back to the verification modal and click the Retry button.
