SMS opt-in examples and guidelines to receive a dedicated number for outgoing review requests.

Updated over 3 months ago

๐Ÿ’ฌ Collecting opt-ins or consent from your SMS recipients is essential for responsible communication. Itโ€™s also required by the FCC and network carriers to send SMS messages to your customers.

What is an SMS opt-in?

Network carriers require your customers to give consent before receiving SMS messages from your business. This means you need to clearly inform them that by providing their phone number, they agree to receive SMS messages from your business, no matter how you collect their numbers. Below are examples of how to obtain SMS opt-ins.

All businesses in the United States ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ and Canada ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ are required to register with network carriers to send outbound SMS messages to their customers.

Once you submit your business information through our verification portal, TrueReview will handle the registration process on your behalf.

Why is verification required?

Business verification helps maintain a secure messaging ecosystem by minimizing bad actors and ensuring transparency between businesses and carriers.

Please note that SMS messaging is supported only in the United States ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ and Canada ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ.

4. Is there a fee to register the toll-free number?

This service is completely free of charge and included as part of your subscription cost with TrueReview.

5. Can I use a local number instead of toll-free?

By default, a toll-free number is used free of charge. To use a local number, please contact support. Local numbers come with an annual fee of $90. This includes the fees associated with local numbers imposed by network carriers, as well as processing fees from TrueReview. Please note that local number verification can take up to 6 weeks.

๐Ÿ’ผ How to submit for business verification

Only takes a few minutes!

Users with the Small Business and Premium plans, head over to your Contacts page, and click the Start Verification button.

Enter your business information, ensuring to provide the complete business address. If there is no physical location, use the address registered for your business.

Ensure that your SMS opt-in form complies with network carrier requirements. Clearly explain how your customers provide consent, as demonstrated in the attached example.

What should I expect after submitting?

After you submit the business verification information, our team will review it to ensure it meets network carrier guidelines. If everything is in order, weโ€™ll submit it for carrier verification.

You will receive email updates on the status throughout the process.

Please be aware that, due to the high volume of verification requests, it may take up to 7 days for network carriers to fully verify your dedicated number.

To ensure you make the most of your 14-day free trial, weโ€™ll assign a temporary number for SMS requests while your dedicated number is being verified.

If your verification is rejected, TrueReview will email you with steps to resolve the issues.
