How to Set Up and Use HubSpot Custom Objects in trumpet

A guide on how to connect your Pods to custom objects using our HubSpot integration

Written by Maddi Rose

You can connect HubSpot Custom Objects to trumpet to create pods directly from records stored in HubSpot. This allows teams to generate pods using objects beyond standard CRM records like Deals.

Once connected, pods created from custom objects behave the same way as pods connected to HubSpot Deals.

Connect a HubSpot Custom Object to trumpet

To start using a custom object in trumpet, you’ll first need to connect it in your HubSpot integration settings.

Steps

  1. In trumpet, go to HubSpot Integration Settings

  2. Open the Custom Objects tab

  3. Click Add Custom Object

  4. Map the required fields

  5. Click Save configuration

Once saved, the custom object will be available when creating pods.

Configure Field Mapping

When connecting a custom object, you’ll need to map specific HubSpot fields so trumpet can correctly identify and display the record.

Required fields

Two fields must be mapped:

HubSpot Object ID

  • Automatically mapped by trumpet

  • Used to uniquely identify the record in HubSpot

Display Name

  • The primary label shown for the object in trumpet

  • Example: Portal Name

Optional fields

You can also map additional fields to enrich your pods:

Domain

  • If mapped, trumpet can automatically apply branding when generating the pod

Company information

  • Helps associate the object with the relevant company data

Create Pods from Custom Objects

After connecting a custom object, users can create pods directly from those records.

Example workflow

  1. Create a new pod

  2. Search for the HubSpot custom object

  3. Select the relevant record (for example, a Portal)

  4. Create the pod

The pod will then be linked to the selected custom object.

Pods created this way behave the same as pods connected to the HubSpot Deal object, allowing you to manage and update them within your existing workflow.

CRM Visibility & Activity Sync

When a pod is connected to a HubSpot custom object, trumpet activity will also be visible inside HubSpot.

Within the HubSpot custom object record, users will see:

  • The associated trumpet pod

  • A direct link to open the pod

  • trumpet activity cards, showing interactions and engagement related to the pod

This ensures teams working in HubSpot have full visibility into pod activity without needing to leave the CRM.
