Glean in Trumpet is a company-wide connection that lets your team search and use content Glean already indexes (e.g. Google Drive, SharePoint, and other sources your company has wired into Glean).
How it gets set up
A brand admin/manager connects it in Settings → Integrations. They enter a Glean API token, a service account email, and optionally your company’s Glean URL. Trumpet checks those details with Glean before saving the connection.
Important: searches run as that one service account, so everyone in the brand sees the same results. Admins are advised to pick an account whose access is safe to share company-wide.
Where you use it
Once connected (and if the feature is enabled for your workspace), Glean appears in the Content Library. There are two tabs:
Browse contents — search or browse documents Glean has indexed
Ask Glean — ask a question and get an AI answer with source links
Adding content into a Trumpet pod
Glean is a search layer, not the place files are stored. If you want to add a file into a pod/widget, Trumpet may need to pull the actual file from the original system (often Google Drive or SharePoint). Those integrations must also be connected in Settings → Integrations. If they aren’t, you can usually still open the item in Glean or use it as a link, but not insert it as a file.
Collections in Glean open in Glean rather than being added directly into a pod.
Separate from Content Library
Glean can also be set up as an MCP server (under MCP Servers settings) for AI features. That is a different setup path from the Content Library integration.
Note:
It's currently being rolled out gradually — access is controlled behind the scenes, so some teams will see it and others won't yet.
If your team has access, you'll see Glean in Settings → Integrations, and a Glean section in the Content Library.
An admin or manager needs to connect it first using a Glean API token and service account (set up in your Glean admin console).
Once connected, your team can browse and search content from your connected tools via Glean, ask Glean questions, and add files into trumpets.
