Rolling Over Projects

During off-peak windows, use the staging area to manage system load. Instead of a bulk import, select specific clients and use the Actions menu to generate projects. Crucially, verify all contact information beforehand to prevent transition errors.

Rolling over projects in Truss involves using the staging area during off-peak times, such as the extension season, to bring in only the necessary clients without overwhelming the system. Select clients, create projects via the actions menu, and ensure contact info is accurate for smooth transitions.

Highlights:

  • Use staging areas to selectively import extension clients.

  • Create projects easily via the actions menu.

  • Maintain accurate contact info for effective rollovers.

Steps:

  1. Select the client name in the GetTruss login

2. From the Actions tab, select the option “Roll Over Projects.

3. Then you’d be prompted to confirm items, options, and additional tags based on your requirements, and add any specific tracking tags to Old projects, add due dates, set Project status for the new roll-over project, select task types based on your needs, and click “Start Duplication.

4. Ensure to update “Year” of the return in the Options section where the question states “Update references to year (YYYY) in task names, descriptions, or project names to 2024” (we have added sample case as 2024 in this case since we are rolling 2023 to 2024 - so the year will be depending on the year of return you handle each time).
