Yes - images that are added to the Asset Library can easily make use of background Removal functionality.
In the following instance I have generated a simple image of a well-lit, ripe strawberry with a yellow background:
You need to add the selected photo to my Asset Library by selecting it and choosing 'Add to Assets' towards the top right corner of the workspace.
Go to the Asset Library and locate the image, immediately beneath which is a drop down that says 'Image with background'. From the drop down you can select 'Image without background'; both stages and the outcome are shown below:
