Brief Comparison
Each model supported by Pencil brings its own strengths - some excel at realism, others at stylised or illustrative output. Instead of evaluating individual models in detail, it's generally more helpful to consider what kind of creative outcome you’re aiming for:
Photorealistic or lifestyle imagery: Models like DALL·E 3, Imagen 3, Imagen 4 Ultra, and Firefly V4 tend to excel at generating high-fidelity visuals for product shots, people, and everyday settings.
Stylised, artistic, or conceptual outputs: Stable Diffusion, including SDXL (3.5 Large), is particularly effective for looser creative exploration, illustration-style work, or mood boards. Bria 2.3 also offers strong stylisation with added guardrails for commercial use.
Brand-safe or editorially licensed content: Getty Images and other commercially oriented models are designed with licensing and appropriateness in mind - helpful when compliance is a consideration.
Speed and iteration: Models such as Gemini 2.0 Flash and GPT Image 1 may favour responsiveness and quick output cycles, making them useful for rapid idea generation and refinement.
Summary
There’s no single best model for every use case - try a few and choose based on your creative goals. The choice of model may also matter less when aiming for specific tone and subject constraints. A richly developed Brand Library, Skilled Prompting and other conditioning assets play an incredibly important role.
