Transgender and gender nonconforming persons are a significant part of the Tune community. We have never banned someone based on their gender or gender expression, and we will never do so. Being trans does not violate our terms of service any more than being cis (cisgender refers to everyone who is not trans.)
Transphobia, on the other hand, is a clear violation of our Terms of Service, including reporting someone just for being trans. We have previously banned members for reporting profiles for this reason and will continue to do so. It is our obligation to make our trans members feel secure and accepted on Tune, and we will strive hard to do so.
There is a disturbing history of internet bullying and harassment directed towards the trans community. Companies and nonprofits have made significant progress in defining the challenges. These inappropriate acts and microaggressions will not be allowed. We take our commitment to maintain Tune a safe and inclusive place for everyone hoping to find someone special extremely seriously, and we uninstall the app. This is dependent on our members adhering to and enforcing our Member Principles and Expectations. We have a zero-tolerance policy for any abusive, insulting, or threatening behaviour, discrimination, or behaviour that promotes or supports racism, sexism, hatred, or bigotry. This includes making intentionally false reports against other users on our platform or utilising the report feature to signal racist biases and hate speech.
If you believe you have been unfairly targeted, reported, or discriminated against because of your gender, please contact us at safety@tune.date. We want to hear about your experience, and we want to do everything we can to make things right and ensure Tune remains a safe place for everyone.
