Clip Editor: Overview

This article and video will walk you through how to edit a clip on both computer and mobile device.

The Clip Editor in TVEyes allows you to select and save specific segments from your captured media clips. This feature can be helpful for creating targeted segments for analysis, internal sharing, or reports. The video below will walk you through the most common ways users edit their clips. The text below will breakdown each of the different ways to use the Clip Editor.

1. Drag and Drop Cropping

Step 1: Click on the scissor icon on the Clip Viewer page to edit the video.

Step 2: Locate the play bar at the bottom of the clip viewer. At the beginning and end of the bar, you'll see handles. These handles allow you to define the start and end points of your cropped clip.

Step 3: Click and hold a handle, then drag it left or right to adjust the start or end point of your clip.

Step 4: As you move the handles, the corresponding start/end inputs will update, allowing you to control and personalize the crop points.

Step 5: After you finish, you can see the duration of your cropped clip and can play its preview.

Step 6: To save your video click on the 'Save' button at the right top corner and select your preferred option.


2. Timecode Cropping

Step 1: Click on scissor icon on clip viewer page to edit the video.

Step 2: Look for the time code fields under the player. These are labeled "Start Time" and "End Time". This method is ideal if you know the exact timestamps of the relevant content within the clip.

Step 3: Enter the specific start and end times (in hours, minutes, seconds) of the clip section you want to keep. Your view will automatically move the point to the entered time.

Step 4: After you finish, you can see the duration of your cropped clip and can play its preview.

Step 5: To save your video click on the 'Save' button at the right top corner and select your preferred option.


3. Transcription Cropping

Step 1: Click on the scissor icon on the clip viewer page to edit the video.

Step 2: Look for the specific transcription segment you want to include in the cropped clip and hover your mouse over that section of the transcript.

Step 3: Buttons labeled "Set Start" and "Set End" will appear at the top of the hovered text.

Step 4: Click the "Set Start" button when you want to crop the desired piece of transcript. It will automatically crop the clip to include only the selected transcript segment.

Step 5: After you finish, you can see the duration of your cropped clip and can play its preview.

Step 6: To save your video click on the 'Save' button at the right top corner and select your preferred option.


4. Visual Cropping

Step 1: Click on "Crop Clip" scissor icon on clip viewer page to edit the video.

Step 2: Play the clip using the play controls and once the playback reaches the point where you want the crop to begin, click the "Set Start" button.

Step 3: Fast-forward or play through the clip until you reach the desired ending point, and then click the "Set End" button to define the end point.

Step 4: After you finish, you can see the duration of your cropped clip and can play its preview.

Step 5: To save your video click on the 'Save' button at the right top corner and select your preferred option.


5. Clip Editing on Mobile

Step 1: On your mobile device, click on the scissor icon at the bottom of the clip viewer page to edit the video.

Step 2: Drag the start and end points to crop the video length.

Step 3: You can also click on the 'Set Time' tab to precisely crop your video by entering start and end time in exact HH.MM.SS (hour minute second) format.

Step 4: After you finish, you can see the duration of your cropped clip and can play its preview.

Step 5: To save your trimmed video click on the 'Save' button at the right top corner and select your preferred option.
