What is Twala ID?

Twala ID is a companion mobile app for user identity verification which also serves as an additional security layer. Twala ID and ID verification are optional features. These features are recommended when signing documents that need a higher level of security e.g. documents that are required by law to be in writing or in original form. Only Twala offers this feature in the Philippine market.

Identity verification is done through the mobile Twala ID app by asking signers to send a copy of their government-issued ID and a selfie coupled with a liveness test powered by artificial intelligence (AI). Twala also uses facial recognition technology and AI to match the photo in the government-issued ID against the submitted selfie.

Twala ID is a decentralized app that holds the signer's private cryptographic keys that can be used as multi-factor authentication or MFA for secured login (passwordless authentication) and secured signing of documents via scanning a QR code or via push notification.

Creating your Twala Digital ID

  1. Download the Twala ID app in iOS AppStore or Android Play Store.

  2. Open Twala ID app.

  3. Allow permissions to notifications, camera, and location.

  4. Click on the "Create Identity" button and accept the "User Agreement"

  5. Enter your full legal name (this is the name that appears in your government-issued IDs)

  6. Enter your PH mobile number and wait for the one-time-pin (OTP)

  7. Enter your email address and wait for the confirmation code to be sent to your email

  8. Now take your recovery selfie and follow the instructions (we use this as security when you try to recover your account in the future)

    • Note: Make sure you remove any accessory such as eyeglasses or hat when taking a selfie

  9. Nominate and confirm your four-digit PIN codes

  10. Ready your government-issued ID

  11. Enter all required information (all data is protected by AES-256 encryption)

  12. Take a photo of your ID

  13. Click "Submit"

    • Note: It may take several minutes up to 24 hours to verify your identity.

  14. You will receive a mobile notification as soon as your identity claim is verified.

    • Claim Approved

  15. When prompted, click the "Accept" button

    • Note: Declining the approval would invalidate the submission which will require you to repeat the whole verification process again. If you accidentally dismissed the push notification, you can access the Approved modal by going to the mobile app's Claim tab. Look for and click on the "Identification" button.
