Application Status Categories

There are four main Two Dots application status categories:

  • Needs Manual Review

  • Needs Follow Up

  • Approved

  • Denied

Approved

Your income, ID, and SSN have been successfully verified - no further action is required from you.

  • With a guarantor: The guarantor’s income has been verified, along with your ID and SSN.

  • With roommates: We may issue a group approval by combining verified incomes from all applicants. If one roommate’s income meets the requirement, we may proceed based on that.

Needs Follow Up

We need additional documentation to complete your verification.

For example, if you submitted a paystub as a screenshot, your application will move to Needs Follow Up status. In this case, we’ll request supporting documents (such as bank statements showing payroll deposits).

Needs Manual Review

This means Two Dots has completed your verification and forwarded your application to the property's on-site team for review.

This typically happens when documents can’t be directly verified by Two Dots.

Denied

Your application did not meet the lease requirements.

Common reasons include:

  • Timeout: The application wasn’t completed within the designated timeframe.

  • Low income: Verified income doesn’t meet the declared amount or threshold.

  • Fraud: Documents provided were found to be fraudulent (e.g., falsified income, ID theft, or SSN fraud).
