The main difference is that tZERO Securities is approved, among other things, to custody, clear and settle traditional securities, including digitally enhanced securities, and tZERO Digital Asset Securities is approved to custody, clear and settle digital asset securities. This dual broker-dealer structure for custody, clearance and settlement is due to existing US securities law and regulatory guidance, which prohibits traditional securities and digital asset securities from being held in custody by the same broker-dealer.

tZERO Securities is also the operator of the tZERO Securities ATS and offers retail and investment banking brokerage services.
