My Google Authenticator codes don’t work

It may be because the time is not correctly synced on your Google Authenticator app.

To set the correct time:

  1. On your Android device, go to the main menu of the Google Authenticator app.

  2. Tap More Settings Time correction for codes Sync now.

On the next screen, the app confirms the time has been synced. You should be able to sign in. The sync will only affect the internal time of your Google Authenticator app, and will not change your device’s Date & Time settings.

iOS Instructions:

#1 - Check Date and Time

Step 1: Launch the iPhone Settings menu and select "General"

Step 2: Select "Date & Time"

Step 3: Toggle on Set Automatically

If the option was enabled already, you can toggle it off and back on. Now check if the Google Authenticator works on your iPhone.

#2 - Restart iPhone

This could update your date and time if you are traveling frequently between time zones

#3 - Uninstall and reinstall Google Authenticator

IMPORTANT: Export your accounts before uninstalling or else your codes will be lost forever and you will have to contact each provider to reset your 2FAs for those accounts.

#4 - Update iOS

Your version of iOS could be out of date and causing issues. Try updating your software to the latest version
