Here’s how to prepare so you and your learner get the most value from your time together.

1. Understand Your Mentorship Style

Before you begin mentoring, take the UNI Mentor Type Quiz.

  • Learn your strengths, communication style, and natural mentoring approach.

  • Use your results to adapt your style for different learner personalities and goals.

  • Consider sharing your mentor type in your profile—it can help learners connect with you faster.

2. Review the Learner’s Profile & Goals

  • Read their UNI Learn profile to understand their background, interests, and motivations.

  • If they’ve taken the UNI Learner Type Test, review their results to see their preferred learning style.

  • Check for any existing Learning Projects or past lesson notes.

3. Plan Your Session Structure

  • Define the main objective for the session (e.g., skill practice, project feedback, Q&A).

  • Prepare relevant materials, resources, or tools.

  • Allocate time for feedback and goal-setting at the end.

4. Communicate Before the Session

  • Send a brief confirmation message to the learner.

  • Ask what they want to achieve in this session.

  • If they’re working on a Learning Project, request access in advance so you can review it.

5. Be Ready to Adapt

  • Some learners arrive with a clear plan; others may need help defining their goals.

  • Stay flexible—adjust your approach based on their needs, energy, and questions.

💡 Tip: Your first session is about more than delivering content—it’s about building trust, understanding your learner’s vision, and setting a collaborative tone.
