Dynamic QR Codes in Uniqode resolve to a redirect URL managed by the platform. By default, scans redirect through Uniqode’s short domain. However, users on certain plans can use a custom domain to brand their QR Codes.

Additionally, Uniqode allows you to assign alternative domains (e.g., qrcodes.pro) during the QR Code creation process, providing more flexibility in domain customization.

Custom domain is available as an add-on on the Plus plan and is included in Business+ plans. It is not available on the Essential plan. On the Business+ plan, the number of custom domains included is configurable to suit your business needs.

The Custom Domain add-on on the Plus plan costs $1,688 annually, plus applicable taxes. On the Business+ plan, pricing depends on the number of custom domains you choose — for example, 1 custom domain costs $4,788 per year, while 2 custom domains cost $5,288 per year, both billed annually.

Here's how you can set up your custom domain on Uniqode:

Login to the Uniqode dashboard, go to ‘Account’ on the top right of the screen, and choose ‘Domains’ from the dropdown list.

Click ‘Add Now’ or ‘+ Add Domain’.

Add the URL of the domain you want your QR Codes to point to under ‘Domain hostname’. For this article, let’s create a custom domain for www.mcgeesecurity.info.

Click ‘Add’ to finish.

Note: Changing the domain for existing or already-printed QR codes will regenerate the QR image, overwriting the original QR code asset. This means any printed or shared versions of the original code will stop working. If your QR code has already been distributed, it is not recommended to change the domain. QR codes are tied to specific redirect URLs. Changing the domain rewrites the redirect URL, effectively creating a new QR code image.

If the entered domain details are correct, you should see your domain name under ‘Custom domains’.

Click ‘Configure’ to get the relevant CNAME, Host, and Value details in a pop-up such as the one below:

to your domain’s DNS records. You will need to add both CNAME values to configure your custom domain. Refer to your domain host to find out how to add CNAME records.

Note:

a. A DNS configuration maps a URL to an IP address and helps connect websites to the outside world.

b. Your domain host is where you purchased your domain name for your website, eg: GoDaddy, DuckDuckGo, Enom, or Name.com.

c. The procedure to configure DNS records is unique to the service provider of your domain.

Once your custom domain is set up, go to ‘Profile’ → ‘Domains’ to check the status of your domain. You should see a pop-up like this once it’s configured:

Updating the organization's custom domain ensures that QR codes under that organization will not revert to an old domain.

Step 1: Select the organization to configure

Go to ‘Account’ → ‘Organizations’. Choose the organization you want to update and click on ‘Edit organization’ to begin.

Step 2: Assign a custom domain to an organization

You will see a pop-up as shown below. Choose your custom domain from the drop-down menu.

If the domain details entered are correct, you will see a pop-up as shown below:

Now, all QR Codes created under this organization will point to a URL of your custom domain.

If QR codes or links using a specific domain (e.g., uniqode.io) fail to load, but other domains work, the issue may be related to network restrictions. To troubleshoot:
