What are the reasons a member would use Fido by medZERO?
Members would use this card to pay for veterinary care when they otherwise may be limited in their financial ability to pay for the service; this can be used for routine or emergency situations. Fido gives clients a new alternative to paying high credit card interest, enrolling on the spot in a new credit card, or foregoing the care their pets need. Clients are able to pay off the balance within 6-12 months with no impact to you and your business, since you are collecting the amount in full up-front.
What is the max a client can spend on the card?
Fido by medZERO Vet Spending Card accounts have a $500 spending allowance.* When a client goes to use the Fido card to make a payment at the vet, they have to enter the exact amount they want to charge on their Fido card; if the amount requested on the card doesn’t match the charge exactly, they’ll be notified of an error and prompted to adjust their request amount in the app. For large bills, the client may ask you to split the charge so they can pay for part of the bill with Fido and part with an alternative payment method.
How many times can they use the card?
The Fido by medZERO Vet Spending Cards are one-time use. Once a loan has been paid off, members can request additional funds through the Fido by medZERO App.*
Can a member use the card with all services and over-the-counter products? Are there any exclusions?
Fido by medZERO loans can only be used for veterinary expenses for pets such as visits, dental cleanings, and prescriptions. Fido by medZERO approves transactions based on the Merchant Category Code (MCC) used in your payment system; the card is set up to authorize transactions only at "veterinary services" merchants who use MCC code 0742.*
What do I do when presented with a Fido by medZERO card from a client?
The Fido by medZERO Vet Spending Card is a virtual card. Clients will provide their card information for you to manually enter into your payment app or terminal. Note, Fido requires a Veterinary merchant category code of 0742 for the payment to be authorized.
Do we have to do anything different about this process? Are we involved in any way?
No, the Fido by medZERO Vet Spending Card is used just like any other Mastercard using your standard practice management or billing software or credit card processing terminal.
Do I get charged a vendor fee? If so, how much?
No, there are no additional fees. The Fido by medZERO Vet Spending Card works like any other card transaction.
