Verifying a UPC-Covered Pet
Before providing UPC savings, verify that the pet is eligible to receive savings at your clinic.
You can verify eligibility by:
Reviewing the pet's UPC Membership ID Card
Searching for the pet in the Vet Portal
To verify a pet in the Vet Portal:
Log in to the Vet Portal.
Navigate to the Pet Roster tab.
Search using the pet name, member name, member ID, email address, or phone number.
If the pet appears on your roster, the pet is eligible to receive UPC savings at your clinic.
What If a Pet Parent Forgot Their UPC ID Card?
If a pet parent does not have their ID card available, search for the pet in the Vet Portal using the available information. If the pet appears on your roster, the pet is eligible to receive UPC savings at your clinic. As a reminder, your clinic is paid monthly for all pets attached to your roster whether they visit your clinic or not.
What If I Cannot Find a Pet in the Vet Portal?
If you cannot locate a pet in the Vet Portal:
Confirm the spelling of the pet's and owner's information.
Search using alternate information, such as an alternate owner name, member ID, email address, or phone number.
If the pet still cannot be located, please contact our team at (877) 872-8800 ext: 2 or vetsupport@unitedpetcare.com
How Do I Know if a Pet Is Active?
A pet is considered active and eligible for UPC savings when it has your clinic listed on their ID card and their effective dates are current. They also should appear on your clinic's pet roster in the vet portal.
If the pet is listed on your roster, savings can be applied according to your clinic's UPC pricing schedule.
Applying UPC Savings
Once eligibility has been confirmed, apply the appropriate UPC savings according to your clinic's UPC pricing schedule. You can view your clinic's savings schedule on the Overview page in the Vet Portal.
Eligible savings vary by clinic and are based on the pricing schedule established with UPC. Please refer to your clinic's savings schedule for the specific services and savings available at your location.
Savings are applied directly by your clinic at the time of checkout. No claims, reimbursements, or submissions are required.
As a reminder, UPC is a pet healthcare savings program and not pet insurance.
Missed Savings
If UPC savings were not applied to an eligible pet during checkout, please notify UPC as soon as possible. Clients may also call in to our team to request assistance resolving a missed saving.
These should be resolved within one week of notification from our team. Depending on the situation, the resolution may include:
Refunding the savings amount to the pet parent
Applying a credit to the pet parent's account for future services
UPC will work with your clinic to ensure the appropriate resolution is provided and documented.
To help prevent missed savings, please verify eligibility before checkout and reference your clinic's UPC savings schedule when preparing invoices.
