An Attribute Set is a group of custom fields (attributes) that you can allocate to a product record. Attribute Sets allow you to add detailed reference information to your products, which can then be displayed in your Doc Designer templates for invoices, purchase orders, and other documents.
The following examples demonstrate how different industries can use Attribute Sets to capture product-specific information that matters to their business and customers:
Attribute Set: Electronics
Attribute: Voltage
Attribute: Compliance Standard
Attribute: Warranty Period
Attribute Set: Food and Beverage
Attribute: Allergens
Attribute: Storage Requirements
Attribute: Protein content
This additional detail helps customers understand exactly what they're purchasing and provides essential information for shipping, customs, and product identification.
Attribute set limitations
Before setting up Attribute Sets, be aware of these key restrictions:
Only one attribute set can be saved to a product's record.
A maximum of 10 Attribute Sets can be created in your account.
Attribute Set Names have a 50-character limit.
A maximum of 3 Attributes can be displayed in Doc Designer templates.

Manage Attribute Sets
Creating and managing Attribute Sets is a two-step process: first you'll create the Attribute Set container, then you'll add the specific attributes (custom fields) that will capture your product information. Once created, these sets can be applied to products and integrated into your document templates for professional presentation to customers.
Add an Attribute Set
To create a new Attribute Set:
Go to Settings > System > Attribute Sets.
In the "Attribute Sets Name" field, enter a unique name.
Confirm "Product" is selected in the "Type" drop-down menu.
Click "Add".
Your new Attribute Set will appear in the grid and is ready for attributes to be added. To edit an Attribute Set's name, simply click on the Attribute Set Name in the Attribute Set page and update accordingly.
Delete an Attribute Set
If an Attribute Set is no longer needed, it can be deleted:
Go to Settings > System > Attribute Sets.
Along the Attribute Set's name, hover over the action cog icon.
Select Delete.
Confirm deletion by ticking the "Confirm deletion" checkbox and clicking Yes.
When an Attribute Set is deleted, all attributes for the set saved against any product record will be lost.
Add an Attribute to a Set
To add an attribute to an Attribute Set:
Go to Settings > System > Attribute Sets.
Click on the Attribute Set Name in the grid.
In the "Attribute Name" field, enter a unique name for the attribute.
If you want a value to automatically populate for the attribute when its Attribute Set is selected in the product's record, enter it in the "Default Value" field.
If the attribute is a required field when its Attribute Set is selected in the product's record, tick the "Is Required" checkbox.
Click Add.
To edit an Attribute's name, Default Value, or Is Required detail, simply click on the Attribute in the Attribute Set's page and update accordingly.
Delete an Attribute
If an Attribute in an Attribute Set is no longer needed, it can be deleted:
Go to Settings > System > Attribute Sets.
Click on the Attribute Set Name in the grid.
Along the Attribute's name, click on the bin icon.
Confirm deletion by ticking the "Confirm deletion" checkbox and clicking Yes.
When an Attribute is deleted, all products with the attributes will be updated to remove the attribute's data.
Using Attribute Sets
Once you've created your Attribute Sets, you can apply them to individual products or update multiple products at once. Each product can have one Attribute Set assigned, which will then populate additional fields with relevant product details that enhance your inventory records and customer documentation.
Apply Attribute Sets to products
To apply an Attribute Set to a product's record:
Go to the product's record.
In the Details tab, scroll to the Attributes section.
Select a set from the Attribute Set drop-down menu.
Enter the appropriate values for each attribute displayed.
Click Save.
You can also bulk update your products' Attribute Sets and Attributes using a CSV Import; for guidance, see Import Product Attributes.
Include Attributes in Doc Designer templates
Attribute Sets become powerful when integrated with your Doc Designer templates. Here's how to display product attributes on invoices, purchase orders, and other documents:
Go to Settings > Doc Designer > {Transaction Type}.
Select the template in the Template Name drop-down menu.
Click on the LinesGrid component in the template's layout.
Go to the Component tab.
In the Column Control field, locate the Header "Attribute1".
Tick the Visible checkbox.
In the "Attribute name" field, enter the name of the attribute to be included on the template and select it from the menu displayed.
Update the "Header name" field to match the attribute's name.
Publish the template.
π€ Tip: Repeat steps 5 to 7 for headers "Attribute2" and "Attribute3" to include up to three attributes in your template.
When documents are printed or emailed, the template will automatically populate with the attribute values from your product records, provided the correct Attribute Names have been populated for each product included.
