Use Shipping Companies to help further manage how your Sales Shipments are handled. The Shipping Companies created in your account can be allocated manually per Shipment, allowing you to quickly and effectively manage all your shipments per shipping company.

Important: Shipping Companies are only available to use when Order Management is enabled in Settings > Company > Configuration.

Manage Shipping Companies

Before you can start using Shipping Companies to manage your shipments, you'll need to create them, making sure they match your business's shipping partners.

Add a Shipping Company

Shipping Companies can be created at any time, directly from the Shipping Companies settings page:

  1. From the main menu, go to Settings > System > Shipping Companies.

  2. In the "Shipping Company Name" field, enter a unique name.

  3. Click Add.

The new Shipping Company will be added and available to select in Sales Order's Shipments.

Edit a Shipping Company

Once created, a Shipping Company's name can be changed at any time.

To edit a Shipping Company:

  1. Go to Settings > System > Shipping Companies.

  2. Click on the Shipping Company's row.

  3. Edit the Name as required.

  4. Click away from the Shipping Company to save.

When you edit a Shipping Company's name, the change applies retroactively to all Shipments that previously used it. This ensures consistency across your historical data.

Obsolete a Shipping Company

If a Shipping Company is no longer being used to handle your Shipments, it can be made obsolete. This means that the Shipping Company won't be available to select in Shipments, and it will be removed from any open Shipments it is currently assigned to.

To obsolete a Shipping Company:

  1. Go to Settings > System > Shipping Companies.

  2. Along the Shipping Company's row, tick the Obsolete checkbox.

Using Shipping Companies

Once the Shipping Company has been created, it can be assigned to a Shipment at any time to help manage and track your shipments, per Shipping Company.

To allocate a Shipping Company to a Shipment:

  1. Open a Sales Shipment.

  2. Select as appropriate in the Shipping Company dropdown menu.

  3. Click Save.

Once the Shipping Company is saved on a Shipment you can use the Shipping Company filter in the Shipment Enquiry or View Shipments pages to review shipments per company.

Reporting on Shipping Companies

Once the Shipping Company is saved on a Shipment, you can use the "Shipping Company" filter in the Shipment Enquiry or View Shipments pages to review and manage shipments per company. This allows you to:

  • Monitor performance by the shipping provider.

  • Track delivery times across different companies.

  • Analyze costs and efficiency by carrier.

  • Generate reports specific to each shipping partner.
