Production Persons represent your production staff and enable you to track and assign responsibility for assembly work. This feature helps you manage workloads, monitor progress, and maintain accountability across your production team.

Production Persons serve as assignable resources that can be linked to assembly jobs, allowing you to track who is responsible for specific production tasks and monitor workload distribution across your team.

How to assign jobs and boost production efficiency

Manage Production Persons

Effective management of your Production Persons requires attention to detail and regular maintenance. Use full names consistently to avoid confusion in larger teams where multiple people might share first names, and ensure email addresses remain current, as they may be used for notifications or reporting features. Establish a routine of periodically reviewing your Production Persons list to mark departing staff as obsolete and promptly add new team members, keeping your system accurate and your assignment options relevant.

Add a Production Person

Setting up Production Persons is straightforward and only requires basic information about each staff member.

To create a new Production Person:

  1. From the main menu, go to Settings > System > Production Persons.

  2. Enter the person's name.

  3. Provide an email address for the person.

  4. Click Add.

Once created, your new Production Person will immediately become available for assignment to assemblies.

Edit a Production Person

After a Production Person has been created, their name and email can be updated at any time:

  1. From the main menu, go to Settings > System > Production Persons.

  2. Click on the Production Person.

  3. In the Edit Production Person window, update the Full Name and Email fields as required.

  4. Click Save.

Changes made to the person's name and email will automatically update across all transactions the person is currently assigned to, ensuring consistent data and reporting.

Obsolete a Production Person

As your team changes over time, use the Obsolete feature to maintain an organized, current list of active Production Persons.

To obsolete a new Production Person:

  1. From the main menu, go to Settings > System > Production Persons.

  2. Along the Production Person's row, tick the Obsolete checkbox.

An obsoleted Production Person will remain assigned to any transaction they were already assigned to, but they will not be available to assign moving forward.

Using Production Persons

Production Persons can be assigned to assemblies in two convenient ways, giving you flexibility to manage assignments based on your workflow preferences.

πŸ“Œ Note: Disassemblies do not support Production Person assignments.

Assembly assignment

Use this method when you're already working within a specific assembly or need to make detailed updates:

  1. Open the Assembly.

  2. Use the Production Person drop-down menu to select the appropriate Production Person.

  3. Save the Assembly.

The assignment is now recorded and will be visible on the corresponding Kanban card.

Kanban Board assignment

This method is ideal for quick assignments and real-time production management, as it allows immediate updates without navigating to detailed pages:

  1. From the main menu, go to Production > Assemblies > Assembly Kanban.

  2. Find the assembly card you want to assign.

  3. Click the "Assign" plus icon on the card.

  4. Select the desired Production Person from the list.

Assignments update instantly without requiring you to open the assembly detail page, making it perfect for dynamic production environments where work needs to be reallocated quickly.

To unassign a Production Person in the Assembly Kanban:

  1. From the main menu, go to Production > Assemblies > Assembly Kanban.

  2. Find the assembly card you want to unassign.

  3. Click the current Production Person's initials icon on the card.

  4. Select Unassign Person.

Assembly Kanban filtering

The Assembly Kanban board offers focused views of individual or team workloads:

  • Production Person filtering: Use the multi-select menu to view only the selected assigned assemblies.

  • Management benefits: Quickly assess workload distribution, identify bottlenecks, and review progress without scrolling through unrelated work

This filtering capability transforms the Kanban board into a personalised workspace for each team member or a focused management tool for supervisors.

Production Enquiry

The Production Enquiry feature provides deeper performance insights:

  • Person-specific analysis: Filter by individual Production Persons to analyze their productivity patterns.

  • Performance metrics: Gain quantitative insights into completion rates, costs, and overall efficiency

  • Data-driven decisions: Use performance data to optimize work assignments and identify training opportunities

These reporting tools work together to give you both real-time visibility through the Kanban board and historical analysis through the Production Enquiry, enabling effective production management at both operational and strategic levels.
