Sharing Assistants and Templates

How assistant and template sharing works in Unplex — Private versus Shared with team, and what colleagues can do with shared items.

Written by Sabina Sokolowski

1. Sharing Model

Assistants and templates are personal by default. Each item has a single Owner — its creator — and a visibility status controlled by that Owner:

Private: visible and usable only by the Owner.

Shared with team: discoverable and usable by every member of the workspace.

No per-person permission exists between these two states; sharing is a single on/off status applied to the entire workspace.

Duplicating a shared item creates an independent copy, owned by the duplicating member, who can modify it freely; the original is unaffected. Only the Owner can edit the original, delete it, or change its status between Private and Shared.

3. Sharing or Unsharing an Item

  1. Open the assistant or template to be shared (Owner access required).

  2. Open its settings and set the status to Shared with team or Private.

Note: unsharing an item does not affect copies already duplicated by colleagues; those copies remain independently owned.

4. Frequently Asked Questions

Question

Answer

Can two people edit the same shared assistant?

No. Only the Owner edits the original. A colleague requiring their own version duplicates the item and edits the copy.

Can an item be shared with only some colleagues?

No. Sharing makes an item available to the entire workspace. For more restricted access, the item remains Private and colleagues duplicate it on request.
