How Do Clients Pay an Invoice?
To accept payments from your clients:
Generate your client portal link and share it with your client.
When they open the link, they’ll see a “Pay” button under their invoice.
After clicking this, your available payment methods will appear.
Once they select their preferred method, they can proceed to pay the invoice.
How Will I Know When I’ve Been Paid?
If your client pays via Stripe, Unscripted automatically tracks the payment, and you'll be notified instantly.
If your client selects a manual payment method (such as a bank transfer or PayPal), you’ll receive an email notification from Unscripted when the client marks the invoice as paid. This email will include the payment method they selected. Please verify the payment has been received in your account before marking the invoice as successfully paid.
How Do I Add Payment Details to an Invoice?
Navigate to My Business.
Click on Invoicing > Payment Methods.
From here, you can set up your preferred payment methods.
This information will be displayed on your invoices so your clients know exactly how to pay.
Can I Offer Payment Instalments?
Currently, our system supports two-stage invoicing:
Retainer
Final Amount
You can also add an additional amount to an existing invoice after any payment has been received. However, this is not the same as offering formal instalment plans. Full payment instalment support is something we are planning to develop in the future.
Can I Apply Discounts?
Yes!
You can apply discounts or vouchers by going to the ‘Manage Fees’ section on your invoice. This allows you to manually adjust the total amount due.
Accepting Credit Card Payments via Stripe
To accept card payments through Stripe:
In your profile, click “Link with Stripe”.
Follow the steps to set up your Stripe account.
Note:
Stripe may take up to 7 days to verify your bank account and process your first payout.
After verification, payouts typically occur every 24 hours.
Stripe’s transaction fees vary by country but start at 1.75% + A$0.30 for domestic cards.
What Other Payment Methods Can I Offer?
You’re free to offer any manual or third-party payment methods you prefer, such as:
Bank Transfer
PayPal
Venmo
…and more.
You can list these options in your payment method section under Invoicing.
Are There Any Transaction Fees?
Unscripted does not charge any additional fees for using our invoicing tools.
However, third-party providers like Stripe, PayPal, or Square do charge their own transaction fees. Please refer to their official websites for the most up-to-date rates. Stripe, for example, starts at 1.75% + A$0.30 for domestic card transactions.
Editing a Paid Invoice
If the invoice has already been marked as paid, your ability to edit it depends on the payment method:
Stripe Payments: Once paid, these invoices cannot be edited.
Manual Payments (e.g., PayPal or Bank Transfer):
On the web: Go to the Photoshoot Dashboard, then Manage Fees, and uncheck the payment option you wish to set back to an unpaid status.
On the mobile app: Open the invoice and uncheck the payment option you wish to reset. Once those payment options have been reset to an unpaid status, you'll be able to make edits to you invoice.
