Email Templates & Automations in the iOS App

Automating your email communication with clients saves time and ensures consistency.

Global Email Templates

Your global email templates serve as the default templates used for every new photoshoot (or “shoot”) you create.

How to Edit Global Email Templates

  1. Go to the My Biz tab in the app.

  2. Tap Templates.

  3. Switch to the Email Templates tab.

From here, you can edit and save your default email templates. Any changes you make will automatically apply to all new shoots created afterward.

Note: Changes to global templates will not affect existing or past shoots.

Shoot-Level Email Automations

You can also customise and schedule emails specific to each individual shoot.

How to Access Shoot-Level Email Automations

  1. Open the shoot you want to manage.

  2. Scroll down to the Photoshoot Tools section.

  3. Tap Emails + Automations.

You’ll see a list of email templates specific to that shoot. Templates with a calendar icon next to them can be scheduled.

How to Schedule an Email

  • Tap the calendar icon next to your chosen template.

  • Set the desired date and time on the Schedule New Email screen.

  • Manage all scheduled emails under the Automations tab in the same section.

Using Dynamic Tags in Email Templates

Dynamic tags allow Unscripted to automatically personalize your emails with shoot- and client-specific details, so your messages always feel personal and professional.

Supported Dynamic Tags

Tag

Description

(name) or (client name)

First name of your client

(client names) or (insert client name)

Client name(s)

(your name) or (insert your name)

Your name as set in your Unscripted profile

(date)

Scheduled photoshoot date

(time)

Scheduled photoshoot time

(location)

Photoshoot location

(insert balance amount)

Remaining balance owed by the client (after deposits, discounts, taxes, and payments)

Tip: If a tag can’t be filled (e.g., no date scheduled), it will remain as is in the email. Be sure the relevant info is set in the shoot details to maximize personalization.

Quick Tips

  • To personalize a template, simply overwrite the placeholder text.

  • Automated scheduling of emails (setting when emails send) is currently available only on the iOS app.

  • Changes to templates apply only to new shoots going forward — existing shoots keep their original templates.

  • If you need to start fresh, you can reset your templates to default through the My Biz section.

By leveraging global templates, shoot-specific automations, and dynamic tags, you can streamline your client communications while keeping them professional and personalized.

Resetting and Restoring Email Templates

If you need to start fresh or return to the original templates, Unscripted provides options to reset and restore your email templates.

How to Reset Email Templates

  1. Navigate to the My Biz tab in the app.

  2. Scroll down to find the Reset Templates option.

  3. Confirm your selection when prompted. This will reset all your email templates to their default state. Note that this affects all templates, including client portal email templates.

Restoring Default Email Templates

If you want to restore the original preinstalled templates that come with your app subscription:

  1. Go to the My Biz tab.

  2. Tap Templates.

  3. Look for the Reset Templates option.

  4. Confirm to restore the default templates.

Troubleshooting Template Resets

If you encounter issues with the client portal email template not resetting properly:

  • Try performing the template reset process again.

  • Ensure your app and device are up to date

  • Check for any template-specific settings that might need adjustment. By properly managing your templates, you can ensure your client communications remain consistent and professional while still having the flexibility to customise as needed.
