Building Your Evaluation Form

Step-by-step guide to creating evaluation forms that help judges review and score submissions.

I. Accessing the Evaluation Form Builder

  1. Open the round: open your program and click the round's tab (for example "1 First Round").

  2. Open the tab: click Evaluation Form, next to Submission Form.

  3. Choose the form: in Select Track, choose the evaluation form. It shows which submission form(s) it's linked to and whether it's Published.

Track notes

  • You can use one evaluation form for several tracks, or a separate form for each track. Different forms can have different maximum scores.

  • Check you've selected the right form before editing.

  • Use Use template or the AI Assistant to generate a scoring rubric quickly.

II. Designing the Evaluation Form (Designer Tab)

The Designer works like the submission form builder, but these questions are only shown to evaluators.

A. Evaluation Fields

Choose a field type from the left menu, or click Add Question.

Field Type

Use

Rating Scale

A numerical rating on a defined scale (for example 1–5).

Rating Slider

A slider for a precise numerical score.

Dropdown / Radio Button Group

One predefined choice. Give options numeric values if they should count towards the score.

Yes/No

A simple yes or no.

Feedback

A long-text box for written comments.

Other Fields / Misc

Single-line input, long text and so on. These don't affect the score.

B. Customising the Form

1. Quick edits

  • Edit content: title, description and options in the question box. Put the criterion's weight and guidance in the description so evaluators see it.

  • Duplicate a question.

  • Required: use the star icon to make a criterion mandatory.

2. Settings panel

On the right: General, Logo, Navigation, Question, Pages, Logic, Data, Validation, Form Complete and Timer.

III. Refining the Evaluation Form

  1. Preview: see the form as evaluators will.

  2. Logic: show follow-up questions based on scores. Click Add New Rule, choose what to show or hide, and set the condition. Example: if the score is low, show "What is the main reason for this rating?".

  3. Code Editor: edit the form's JSON directly (advanced).

  4. Translations: translate the criteria for evaluators who work in other languages.

Tip: to control which submission answers evaluators see, use Evaluator Preview in the Submission Form tab.
