Can I cancel a fax after I send it?
Yes, but only while the fax is still Pending. Any Updox user can cancel a pending fax from the Outbound Faxes page.
How do I cancel a pending fax?
In the left-hand menu, click Fax, then click the Outbound tab.
Find the pending fax and click it to expand its details.
Click Cancel.
The fax status changes to Cancel Pending.
Note: The Cancel button only shows for faxes with a Pending status.
What happens after I click Cancel?
Updox tries to stop the fax, but it may be too late if the fax is already being sent. The status updates to show what happened:
Status | What it means |
Cancel Pending | Updox is trying to cancel the fax. |
Cancelled | The fax was cancelled. Some pages may still have been sent before it stopped. |
Successful | It was too late to cancel. The fax was sent. |
Failed | It was too late to cancel, and the fax failed. |
If my fax was cancelled, does that mean nothing was sent?
Not always. Even when a fax is cancelled, some pages may have been sent before the cancellation went through.
Where can I see a record of the cancelled fax?
The cancel attempt is recorded in two places:
The fax's Fax Details on the Outbound Faxes page
The item's Audit Trail
Will I be charged for a cancelled fax?
Yes. A cancelled fax is charged as 1 page, no matter how many pages it had. This is the same as a failed fax.
