If you want to build a healthy relationship with a coworker, leader, or industry peer, you might want to rethink your approach to shutting down requests. "No" may work to get your point across, but to build the right relationships, its usually better to approach "No" from a different angle. Looking for a productive response, such as one that shows empathy or a willingness to help, will provide a far better response.
