When searching for a job, we're often told we have to network. Go to events, reach out to recruiters and industry professionals, and plan coffee chats. Yet, traditional networking isn't always the best option. Understanding your situation will help you decide whether there are more appropriate actions. If you have no idea what you want, your question can easily be answered with some research, or you barely know your "contact", networking may be a bad option. In many cases, no impression is better then a bad impression.
