Knee Dominance (Hitting)

What it is:

Driving load through a bent knee instead of through hip rotation.

Why it matters:

Knee-dominant loads are less stable and reduce hip power contribution.

Good mechanics in this phase look like:

  • Hip leads, back knee supports but doesn’t dominate movement.

  • Hitter feels coiled through the hip socket, not the knee joint.

How to address it:

  • Drills: Hip hinge drills, single-leg balance with rotation, med ball hip fires.

  • Cues: “Sit into your hip, not your knee.”
