What it is:

When the throwing arm lags and rises too late during the stride or rotation. Wrist should be above the elbow at foot plant.

Why it matters:

Increases arm stress and creates timing mismatches, leading to erratic command.

Good mechanics in this phase look like:

  • Arm is up and in throwing position as the front foot plants.

  • Smooth, on-time arm path.

How to address it:

  • Drills: Balance-point throws, rhythm drills with glove tap.

  • Cues: “Arm up on time,” “Match your arm to your stride.”
