What are "Sets and Reps?"
Updated over a week ago

In our programs, you might see exercises written with notes like: "2 x 10".

You can read this "2 sets of 10 reps."

One "set" is when you do the exercise ten times.

Each single time you do the exercise is called a "rep." You will take a rest after the first set of 10 reps. Then you'll do the next set of 10 reps for a total of 2 sets.

Sometimes you'll see exercises written like: "2 x 8-15".

You can read this as "2 sets of 8 to 15 reps".

You get to decide on the total number of reps you do in each set. The more reps, the more challenging. If you're just starting an exercise, start in the lower range and gradually increase to the higher range.

Other times you'll see exercises written like: "2 x 30-60 seconds".

You can read this as "2 sets of 30-60 seconds".

You get to decide on how long you hold the exercise in each set. The longer the hold, the more challenging. If you're just starting an exercise, start in the lower range and gradually increase to the higher range.
