🔍 What is “Group By”?

“Group By” lets you aggregate your performance metrics by a specific attribute so you can instantly see how that element performs across multiple ads or campaigns.

Instead of reviewing every ad individually, Upspring groups together ads that share the same value — for example, the same creative, headline, or landing page — and shows combined metrics like spend, ROAS, CTR, and conversions.

🧠 Why it matters

In creative analytics, the same idea often runs across several ads. Group By helps you spot which elements are driving performance:

  • See which creatives are truly scaling (even if used in multiple ad sets).

  • Discover which headlines or copies consistently boost CTR.

  • Compare landing pages to find which converts best.

It’s the easiest way to move from “ad-level noise” to concept-level insights.

⚙️ Available groupings

You can group by any of these dimensions:

Group By

What it does

When to use

Creative

Aggregates all ads using the same video or image creative

To find your top-performing assets and visualize fatigue or reuse

Ad Name

Groups results by the Meta ad name

When you name ads by theme, creator, or format

Headline

Combines ads with the same headline text

To test copy variants and spot messaging that drives clicks

Copy (Primary Text)

Groups by the main ad copy

Ideal for understanding what tone or structure converts

Landing Page URL

Groups ads driving to the same destination

To measure on-page performance and funnel consistency

💡 Example

Imagine you’re running 5 ads that all use the same product demo video but different headlines.
If you Group By → Creative, you’ll see one aggregated row showing the total spend, impressions, CTR, and conversions for that creative — no matter which ad names or campaigns it appears in.

This helps you quickly answer questions like:

  • “Which video creative drove the most purchases overall?”

  • “Which landing page performs best across all traffic sources?”

“Do certain headlines consistently outperform others?”

🚀 Pro Tips

  • Combine Group By + Filters for deeper cuts (e.g., Group By Creative + Filter Campaign contains ‘UGC’).

  • Use AI Insights after grouping to reveal patterns like “Hook-style creatives drive 27% higher CTR.”

  • Save your favorite grouping as a custom report view for quick access later.
