AutoCriteria FAQS
How does Autocriteria decide which sections and rows to pick?
By analyzing historical sales data on a venue level, Autocriteria assigns each section and row a relative value score. Using the value sliders, criteria are selected based on the applied value range. The further into the negative selected on the value slider, the more aggressive the criteria get.
What is the difference between Standard and Advanced modes? Which one should I use?
Although they both use the same underlying data, these two modes take different approaches to setting criteria with slightly different outcomes.
Standard mode focuses on mirroring criteria closely to how users set them, first evaluating sectional values, and then evaluating the row value to set one universal row range across the criteria.
Advanced mode focuses on accounting for section and row value to create more detailed results. Each section selected for the criteria will have a dynamic row range applied. The end result is criteria that often appear more aggressive, for example, if the inventory being priced is a back row of a premium section, it may include lower value sections, but only the first rows that share the same value score. Vice-versa, if a listing is a premium row in a less premium section, the row range may be more expansive when pricing against higher value sections.
We encourage users to evaluate both modes and their intricacies and pick whichever mode works best for them as their default.
I don’t like the results I was given by Autocriteria, how do I get better results?
There are a few ways to tune Autocriteria and alter the results. In either AC mode, users can select a “scope filter”, which helps filter results. The zone filter limits results exclusively by sections and rows contained within the base inventory’s zone. The section level filter limits the results to sections on the same level as the base inventory (100 level, 200 level, etc). The venue filter includes all results within the venue.
AC Standard is designed to simplify and standardize results. Outside of the scope filters, in the Autocriteria section of the uptick settings, users can tune their AC standard default aggressiveness with the sliders for sections and rows. A value of “0” would translate to only selecting inventory equal or better. Negative values represent inventory that is less valuable than the base listing. We have prepopulated a value of 0 for sections and -3 for rows.
AC Advanced is the more flexible pricing mode, allowing users to tune each request in various ways. The biggest difference is the ability to adjust the value slider for each listing based on aggressiveness. The value slider adjustments will update the selected sections and rows. AC Advanced will also have the same zone, section, and venue filters as AC Standard. In addition, there is a third “rows beyond own” filter which acts as a row cap based on the base row, which can help limit the number of rows selected from all sections when pricing a premium row.
Ultimately if tuning AC still doesn’t provide desired results, the criteria can be altered on the map and in the listing panel as normal, or you can reject the results clearing the map and setting your own criteria.
What is the autosuggestion mode?
Autosuggestion will automatically present Autocriteria results, when available, based on the defaults defined in the settings, for each listing in an event that doesn’t already have criteria set.
I don’t always want to use the autosuggested criteria, how do I navigate around that?
There are a few ways to interact with the autosuggestions in cases where it doesn’t exactly meet your needs. The first is to alter it on the map or in the row ranges to the sections/rows you’d like to include/disclude. The second is to change the scope filter to add or cut out sections you believe are missing.
If you want to dismiss the suggestions altogether, you can simply close out of Autocriteria, which will carry over the last saved criteria, or clear the map at the top right, which will provide a blank slate.
Why isn’t autocriteria loading for my listing?
Not all venues/sections are covered by the Autocriteria models yet. If the “AC” button doesn’t light up blue for an event, the venue is not covered by Autocriteria. As we retrain the model on new data, the coverage will continue to grow. We hope to cover over 80% of all events by the end of 2023.
Alternatively, Autocriteria may have not been able to identify the listing within the venue. If this is the case, you’ll see the base section listed as “unidentified” below the map. To override click the word “unidentified” and select the section off of the map to generate the proper results.
