For holidays, birthdays, special occasions, or just because, Urable allows you to create eGift Cards. Below is information on creating, selling and applying eGift Cards, as well as running a sale on eGift Cards.

NEW for 2026: Custom amounts for eGift Cards!

  • In the Virtual Shop: once you select eGift Cards > Custom > Add to Cart, you are prompted to enter the custom amount of the eGift Card

  • For an Internal Order: ADD > Order > customer > product > Custom eGift Card and enter the custom amount in the "Unit Price" box

NEW for 2025: Select your eGift Card THEMES both with Internal Orders and on the Virtual Shop!

  • Go to Products/Services in the side menu

  • Add new eGift cards or update existing eGift Cards (browser only)

  • Choose "Card Themes" to make available to your customers from the dropdown list provided

How your customers select "Card Themes" in your Virtual Shop

  • Customers going to the Virtual Shop to purchase eGift Cards will "Select eGift Card Theme" from the preselected list

  • The eGift Card can be sent to the purchaser or to a designated recipient in the Virtual Shop checkout

  • NOTE: You can now also select themes for Internal Orders (ADD > Order). See screenshot below

What the eGift Card will look like for the recipient

Creating eGift Cards:

  • go to Products/Services in the side menu and click ADD at the bottom

  • Click "Product/Service"

  • Select your 'Industry'

  • For 'Type' select Product

  • Select the Category you want your eGift Cards housed (i.e.: Gift Cards or "Add a category")

  • 'Product Type' is eGift Card

  • 'Name' is whatever you want (i.e.: eGift Card)

  • You can build out as many price points as you'd like

  • Click the green checkmark to "Save" this to your Products/Services page

Selling eGift Cards:

  • go to ADD at the bottom of the page and "Order" (because you set it up as a "Product," it would be an 'order' and not a 'job')

  • select the customer

  • select the denomination of the eGift Card

  • select the "Payment Method" and complete the sale

  • when an eGift card is purchased it is sent to the purchaser for them to then forward to the recipient. This way the purchaser can include any information they'd like in the email that accompanies it, and the recipient would know who sent it (the amount is included on the eGift card).

NOTE:

  • When a product AND service are purchased together on the Virtual Shop

    • When an eGift Card (or any product) is purchased with a service on the Virtual Shop, the deposit (if a deposit is required) will be taken for both but the eGift Card will not be sent out until the job is paid in full. The work around if the customer wants the eGift Card immediately is to either pay the job in full or do a separate transaction for the eGift Card (because if a product is bought by itself, it requires payment in full).

IMPORTANT: How revenue is handled with an eGift Card:

  • The payment occurs when customers initially purchase the eGift Card. From an accounting perspective, this is then held in a Liability Account until it is then applied later on and it would then count as revenue. If eGift Cards were handled like a payment (going straight into a revenue account), then you would be duplicating the payment amount. Once for when they initially purchased it, and again when it is redeemed. That revenue should only be counted once.

How eGift Cards are handled in Quickbooks:

The sale of eGift Cards can (and should) be associated with a Liability Account in QB. To associate an eGift card with a liability account in QuickBooks via Urable, follow these steps:

  • Go to the Products/Services page in Urable.

  • Click into the specific eGift card product (not just the category).

  • Click the Edit icon in the top right corner of the info block.

  • Click ADDITIONAL OPTIONS.

  • Scroll down to the QuickBooks section.

  • In the drop-down labeled "Liability Account," select the appropriate liability account of your choosing.

  • Save your changes with the green check mark.

This process ensures that eGift card sales are properly mapped to a liability account in QuickBooks, rather than an income account, as is standard for gift card accounting.
