How to Set Up Google Tag Manager with Urable

Track conversions from your Virtual Shop and custom forms using Google Tag Manager or direct Google tags.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure you have one of the following:

- A Google Tag Manager account with a container (ID starting with GTM-)

- A Google Analytics 4 property (ID starting with G- or GT-)

- A Google Ads account (ID starting with AW- or DC-)

If you don't have a Google Analytics account yet, you can create one for free at analytics.google.com (https://analytics.google.com).

What Gets Tracked

Once your tag is connected, Urable automatically sends the following events — no manual setup required:

  • Event When It Fires page_view

  • Someone loads your Virtual Shop add_to_cart

  • Someone adds a product or service to their cart begin_checkout

  • Someone opens the cart to check out job_booked

  • Someone schedules a job or submits a quote request order_placed

  • Someone completes an order

All events include item details (names, prices, quantities) for full e-commerce tracking.

Step 1: Add Your Tag ID to Urable

1. Log in to your Urable account

2. Go to Preferences

3. Scroll down and click Virtual Shop

4. Scroll to Google Tag ID and click it

5. Paste your tag ID (GTM-XXXXXXX, G-XXXXXXX, or AW-XXXXXXX)

6. Click Submit

That's it — your tag is now connected to your Virtual Shop.

Step 2: Add Tag ID to Custom Forms (Optional)

If you also want to track conversions on lead capture or consultation forms:

1. Go to Preferences > Custom Forms

2. Click on the form you want to track

3. In the form settings, find the Google Tag ID field

4. Paste your tag ID and save When someone submits that form, a form_submit event will be sent to your tag.

Step 3: Verify It's Working

Always test in an incognito/private window to avoid your own logged-in sessions being tracked.

- Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N

- Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P

- Safari: Cmd + Shift + N

If You're Using GTM (GTM-XXXXXXX)

2. Open your Virtual Shop in an incognito window

3. Click the Tag Assistant extension icon

4. You should see your GTM container listed as active

5. Add something to your cart — you should see add_to_cart appear

6. Go through checkout — you should see begin_checkout and order_placed

If You're Using Google Analytics (G-XXXXXXX or GT-XXXXXXX)

1. Go to Google Analytics > Admin > Data Streams and select your stream

2. Click Configure tag settings and make sure Enhanced measurement is on

3. Go to Reports > Realtime in the left sidebar

4. Open your Virtual Shop in an incognito window — you should see an active user appear

5. Add something to your cart — the add_to_cart event should show up in the Realtime report with item details

6. Complete checkout — you should see begin_checkout and order_placed events

If You're Using Google Ads (AW-XXXXXXX)

1. Go to Google Ads > Tools & Settings > Conversions

2. Make sure your conversion action is set up — if not, click the plus button to create one

3. Under Tag setup, select Use Google Tag Manager

4. Your Conversion ID and Conversion Label will be displayed

5. Conversions will start appearing in your Campaigns or Conversions report within 24 hours of a completed order or booking

Tip: Urable sends value and currency with order_placed and job_booked events. If you want to track conversion values in Google Ads, configure your GTM trigger to capture these parameters.

Changing or Removing Your Tag

1. Go to Preferences > Virtual Shop > Google Tag ID

2. Click on the current tag ID

3. Either update the ID or click Remove to clear it

Changes take effect immediately — no redeployment needed.
