Employee Commission (3 types)

In addition to an employee's hourly rate, Urable also calculates employee commission rate. There are three types of employee commission: employee-based, service-based, and sales.

Employee-Based Commission

  • commission is set in employee profile

  • earned on any line item

  • employee must use time tracking buttons (start/pause/continue/finish) on each line item

  • commission is automatically applied in employee earnings when the job is marked "Completed"

  • commission is set as a % only

Service-Based Commission

  • commission is set up within each service in “Additional Options”

  • earned based on service performed for particular line item

  • employee must use time tracking buttons on each line item (start/pause/continue/finish)

  • commission is automatically recorded in employee earnings when the job is marked "Completed"

  • commission is set at a flat dollar amount or %

Sales-Based Commission (Jobs & Orders)

  • commission is set in employee profile

  • automatically applied to employee who created the job (check "Sold by" in Metadata tab of job) or created the order (check "Sold by" in Metadata tab of order)

  • commission is based on the total of the job/order minus taxes and fees

  • commission is automatically recorded once the job is marked "Completed" or the order is marked "Fulfilled"

  • commission is set as a % only

NOTE:

  • Urable defaults to service-based when both service & employee-based commission are present

  • Sales Price & Commission (Service based)

    • Here commission is paid on the amount of the line item so if the line item is discounted (through a sale) so too will be the commission.

    • With a service-based commission, if wanting an employee to get commission based on the retail price and not the sales price you would use the "Apply Adjustment" button to apply the discount instead of putting the service on sale.

  • Sales Price & Commission (Sales based)

    • Here commission is based on the amount that is actually paid for the service, whether retail price or sales price, minus taxes and fees but inclusive of discounts (so it wouldn't matter if you used "Apply Adjustment" here because it is based on what is paid...minus taxes and fees).

    • So, whatever is paid (full price or sales price), you would subtract taxes and fees and then the sales commission rate is calculated/applied to that amount.

  • If it’s a service-based commission then Urable will split it evenly between the employees as long as they use time tracking buttons.

  • If it’s an employee-based commission, then it would split proportionally (example: if person A earns a 20% commission and person B earns a 30% commission, if they both work on the same line item together, they would earn 10% and 15% respectively).

  • Once you set a service-based or employee-based commission, it will only apply to jobs moving forward and won't apply retroactively to jobs already created. So, if you didn't have the commission in place for a portion of the date range, it will not show up for those jobs/line items for this employee in analytics.

  • TIPS - from jobs employee is assigned to (Urable splits these evenly)

**Setting a commission rate does not apply retroactively to past jobs but will apply from that point forward

For employee commission to be triggered:

  1. Employee must use the time tracking buttons (start/pause/continue/finish)

  2. There must be a commission entered in either the employee profile (employee-based) or in the service (service-based)

    1. NOTE: the commission can be entered in both (defaults to service-based)

  3. The job must be marked "Completed" for the commission to be triggered

Two places to track employee commission:

  1. Employees/Resources > click on employee > click "Earnings" across the top

  2. Analytics > Employees/Resources
