Registering a payment card, or paying your rent via card / bank transfer

Rent Payments

You can pay your rent via either of the below two methods:

1) Via your urbanest portal with your credit/debit card

Simply log on and click on the 'My Account' tab.

As Urbanest operates in the UK, all our payments and receipts are transacted in GBP. The following credit and debit cards can normally be used as payment:

  • Visa

  • Delta

  • Visa Electron

  • MasterCard / MasterCard Debit

  • UK based Maestro and Solo cards

The card used to make a payment to urbanest must:

- Match the Tenant's name exactly as per the Tenancy Agreement

- Match the Tenant's home address exactly as per the Tenancy Agreement

Please note that we cannot take card payments via telephone.

2) Using direct credit bank transfer

In advance of your rent being due, we will send you an e-mail with an invoice and the correct bank details to use. Kindly ensure that your rent is cleared in our account on the day before your rent due date; this is so that we can allocate the funds from our bank account to your urbanest account in time.

You can also find our bank account details on your portal, under 'My Documents' in any invoice. Our bank details will not change during your stay with us.

Once you have made a bank transfer payment, please send your remittance advice from your bank/online banking to our accounts team using your urbanest portal.

Group Bookings

Please note that if you booked your accommodation through the following institutions, your rent account is handled by them and you should contact their accommodation team for assistance.

  • King's College London at Vauxhall or City

  • Kaplan at King's Cross

  • EF Education First at King's Cross

  • DLD College at Westminster Bridge

  • NYU London at King's Cross or Tower Bridge

Discounts

To keep things fair for all of our residents, we do not offer any discounts for paying your rent fully in advance. This means that if you pay fully in advance, or by installments, you won't be charged any more or less.

Contacting our customer accounts team

Simply log in to your urbanest portal and send a message using the orange icon at the bottom-right of your screen.

Registering a Payment Card

During an online payment, you can register your payment card for future bookings, saving you time and hassle.

We use this card to take your rent automatically on your rent due dates (these can be found on your tenancy agreement) if you haven't cleared the balance already in advance.

If, in advance of any given rent due date, you wish to pay by an alternative method to your registered card (see above), you can do so - but you must ensure we have received cleared funds one working day before the invoice due date.

We will e-mail you before your rent is due with an invoice, but you can get an invoice and your payment schedule in your tenancy agreement at any time from your portal.

Is it safe?

urbanest do not see or store your card details. They are held by one of the largest and most reliable payment gateways, Opayo, who have PCI DSS Level 1 compliance, the highest possible level of card data security.

Why am I having to authorise the full value of my tenancy?

Opayo may require you to authorise the full value of your contract as part of 'PSD2'. PSD2 is a European regulation for electronic payment services.

We will only take payments as per your rent payment schedule, and you will be sent an invoice in advance.

No payments will be taken during the registration process.

I don't want to register a card as I'm paying by bank transfer. What do I do?

We require all customers to have a card registered on their account for security; just like when you check in to a hotel. If you want to pay by an alternative method during your stay, you can of course do so, but we need the funds in our account by 8am on the date of your rent due date.

My parents/a third party are paying my rent. Which card should I use?

The card registered must be in the Tenant's name and the billing address listed as the Home address on your account due to banking regulations.

Can I change my registered payment card when I arrive?

Of course, you can change your registered payment card at any time by contacting us via your urbanest portal.
