This use case allows the user to view all available historical intersection count data, centralized by intersection. These intersection count data can be found by searching for an intersection by name in the sidebar or clicking directly on the intersection via the map. Searches can be narrowed in the sidebar not just by intersection name, but also by data year obtained and data vendor or any other attributes you might be interested in.
The kinds of intersection count data available for reporting are:
Total volume, broken down by bikes, heavy vehicles, pedestrians, and all vehicles
Turning movement counts
Peak hour volume

How to search for an intersection
You can find any intersection by searching the intersection name in the sidebar or navigating the map.
You can use the data source filter on the sidebar if you are looking for a specific intersection data source/type. Depending on the types of data sources your agency has, your sidebar will look slightly different to reflect them.
Click on Match All Data Sources to locate all intersections with both loop count data and turning movement counts.
Additionally, you can identify, as well as specify, the Data Sources which you would like to search by. You can deselect and select multiple sources.
To locate intersections with data for certain dates, use the Time Period filter on the sidebar.
Pro Tip: Use the timeline feature at the bottom right of the map to see the distribution and gaps of your intersection counts data by the data source.
How to generate an intersection report
Extracting insights from an intersection report is made easy by the UrbanLogiq platform. Simply follow the steps below:
Step 1: Click on the intersection of interest on the map
Step 2: Fill in the dates for the preferred data source in the pop-up panel
Note that for Loop Data sources, a calendar is available to easily query date ranges similar to the calendar from the time range filter. This calendar will show you the available date range for the selected intersection data. You can click on any date shortcuts on the left side of the calendar component to select the most recent week, month, and year data. On the bottom left of the calendar, you can easily see how much data is available for analysis in the selected date range.
Step 3: Click Report and begin analysis!
Note that chart types in the intersection report vary depending on the data type available.
Loop Data
Live camera images for the intersection, if available
Turning movement count diagram for loop data source
Daily Total Count Report and Loop Count chart showing trends and spread of traffic across the queried date range, broken down by daily, weekly, and monthly
Single Day Count chart showing volume counts for an intersection at any time in a given day, for multiple directions
Multi-day Count chart comparing traffic and showing the trends across selected dates for any direction of interest
Average Day of the Week Count chart visualizing the general trends across the selected dates for each direction
Consultant data sources (turning movement counts from consultants)
Hourly Count Chart Per Direction And Road User Type
Turning Movement Counts chart with a breakdown of different user types and for any time range
Peak Hours and peak hour factor information
Count Table by road users
Pro Tip: When reviewing the analytics, Use the mini-map feature in the report (located in the top right corner) to reference geo-contextual information. You can close the mini-map by clicking the 'X' button, and re-activate it by scrolling to the top of the report.
How to view consultant / raw data and export an intersection volume report
Click on the Export button in the intersection report header and select Consultant Reports to access the consultant files provided by your city (Note that this Consultant Reports option won't be there for reports generated from loop data).
You can select Intersection Volume Report for an easy-to-read report generated by the UrbanLogiq platform. You can also export the report as a PDF.
Here's what each export looks like:
Consultant Reports: As you probably know, consultant reports take various forms. This downloaded file will look different depending on the consultant who collected the data.
Intersection Volume Report: You can export intersection data with 15-minute intervals or 1-hour intervals. The report includes the raw count for each road user and a calculated average daily count across the time period you queried.
Raw Data (CSV, XLSX): This is a simple but robust file with columns including timestamp, turn, count, and road user types.

How to generate and visualize traffic metrics using intersection data
If the Metrics tab is available to you and your user group, you can generate traffic metrics such as Average Daily Traffic (ADT) using the intersection data.
Step 1: Navigate to the Metrics tab on the sidebar
Step 2: Pick a data source if that's an option. Fill in the Date Range and Aggregation Option for the data source. Pick Color Road Segments By either one-way or two-way, if aggregating ADT over road segments.
Step 3: Hit Run.
Click on any intersection/road segment to view the detailed ADT values for the location. You can filter the intersection/road segments on the map based on the ADT values in the legend by adjusting the toggles or inputting the range of ADT values directly in the text boxes under the legend.
The report summarizes the top 10 locations with the highest ADT values. If road segments are selected as the aggregation option, there will be two charts: one-way ADT and two-way ADT.
That's all for now! Log in to the platform and start your Intersection Count analysis! Happy exploring!
