Written by Sergei (CPO at UTEX.io)

Goods+

Goods+ is a section of the platform where perpetual futures (perp futures) on indices, metals, energy, and currencies are traded.

A perpetual future (perp) is a leveraged instrument for trading an asset with no expiration date. A position can be held indefinitely, as long as there is sufficient margin.

Trading hours

Sunday to Friday, 17:00 to 16:00 Chicago time (23 hours a day). Daily technical break — 16:00 to 17:00 CT.

Leverage and liquidation

Leverage — ×100. Liquidation is triggered at a loss of −60% of the balance.

Contract types

Instruments are available in two formats:

  • Standard contract — larger lot size.

  • Micro — smaller lot, better suited for smaller capital.

The lot size and current overnight rate for each instrument can be viewed by clicking the Fee button in the trading panel.

Overnight fee

Holding a position overnight incurs a fee of 0.0194% of the position value per day (≈7% per year).

Contract rollover

Perpetual futures are based on contracts with expiry dates: when one expires, it is replaced by the next. If the new contract is more expensive, profits on long positions increase and profits on short positions decrease; if it is cheaper, the opposite happens. The account balance changes at the same time to offset the changes in profit.

Changes in profit and balance offset each other. However, they may still cause positions to close automatically: this will happen if your total loss exceeds your loss limit or your balance falls to zero or below during the rollover. On rollover days, keep an eye on the rate in the Payments tab on the instrument’s page to help avoid positions being closed.
