Airbnb's Reviews Policy

Reviews must be unbiased, contain relevant information reflecting the actual experience of the reviewer during the stay follow Airbnb's content Policy.

Reviews should be unbiased:

  • Members of the Airbnb community may not coerce, intimidate, extort, threaten, incentivize, or manipulate another person in an attempt to influence a review, like promising compensation in exchange for a positive review or threatening consequences in the event of a negative review.

  • Reviews may not be provided or withheld in exchange for something of value—like a discount, refund, reciprocal review, or promise not to take negative action against the reviewer. They also may not be used as an attempt to mislead or deceive Airbnb or another person. For example, guests should not write biased or inauthentic reviews as a form of retaliation against a Host who enforces a policy or rule.

Explanation: The guest is engaging in incentivization, which means they are threatening us to leave a negative review unless you provide compensation or a partial refund for their stay.

Here's a request removal template:

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to request the removal of a recent review left by a guest who violated Airbnb's review policy.

The guest in question threatened to leave a negative review if I did not issue a partial refund for their stay. This action appears to be an attempt to manipulate the review system and does not reflect the genuine experience they had at my property. According to Airbnb’s policy, reviews should be based on the actual experience and should not be influenced by threats or coercion.

Given this situation, I kindly request that you review the guest's review and consider removing it to ensure fairness and adherence to Airbnb’s review guidelines.

Reviews should be relevant:

  • Reviews must provide relevant information about the reviewer’s experience with the Host, guest, stay, that would help other community members make informed booking and hosting decisions.

  • If a guest never arrived for their stay or had to cancel due to circumstances unrelated to that stay or Experience, their review may be removed.

Example: The guest's review is "Nothing better." This review may be removed due to being irrelevant, as it does not provide useful or specific feedback about the guest's experience. The statement lacks specific details about the actual experience, making it unhelpful for future guests trying to decide whether to book.

Here's a request removal template:

I am writing to request the removal of a review left by [Guest’s Name with reservation number ___. The review is not relevant to the guest’s actual experience and lacks specific details that would help future guests make an informed decision.

As the review does not provide useful or constructive feedback, I believe it does not meet the standards for relevant content outlined in Airbnb’s policy. I kindly request that this review be removed to ensure that other reviews remain informative and helpful.

Reviews should follow our content policy:

  • Writing: Listing titles and descriptions, profile pages, public and private reviews, feedback, Community Center posts, and messages to Airbnb, Hosts, or guests

  • Imagery: Photos and videos, as well as imagery depicted within photos and videos (such as posters or art hanging on a wall)

  • The following content is not allowed on Airbnb:

  • Content created solely for the purpose of advertising or other commercial content, including company logos, links, or company names

  • Spam, unwanted contact, or content that is shared repeatedly in a disruptive manner

  • Content that endorses or promotes illegal or harmful activity, or that is sexually explicit, violent, graphic, threatening, or harassing

  • Content that is discriminatory (review our for more information)Nondiscrimination Policy

  • Content that attempts to impersonate another person, account, or entity, including a representative of Airbnb

  • Content that is illegal or that violates another person’s or entity’s rights, including intellectual property rights and privacy rights

  • Content that includes another person’s private or confidential information, including content that is sufficient to identify a listing’s location.

Sample template for review removal due to content policy violation:

I am writing to request the removal of a review left by a guest with confirmation number [Confirmation Number]. The review in question describes details about the outside surroundings of the property, which compromises the privacy of our listing.

As the review reveals specific information about the exterior of the property, it poses a threat to our privacy and security protocols. We kindly ask for your assistance in removing this review to ensure the protection of our listing's privacy.

Request removal of a retaliatory review : guests who commit a serious violation of policies, such as:

  • Damaging your property

  • Overstaying their reservation

  • Violating your standard house rules

  • Having an unauthorized party or event at your place

Example. Let’s say a guest smokes in your home, against your house rules. You tell your guest that you found cigarette butts in the living room, and submit a reimbursement request for deep cleaning. In response, your guest refuses to pay and leaves an angry review. You can dispute this review, and we’ll investigate to determine if it qualifies for removal.

Importante note: As per Airbnb Once they covered the reimbursement request, the review cannot be removed.

Here's a request removal template:

Hi,

I would like to ask for a retaliatory review to be removed please, reservation code is ___. According to the new Airbnb Review Policy, damage to property would warrant me, requesting a review to be removed.

There was an approved damage claim and the case no. is CLSF-12345678

Can you please remove this guest's review?
