πŸ” Adyen User Roles & Permissions (Partner Access)

This article explains which Adyen user roles are available to partners, how access is managed, and how to decide what permissions your team actually needs.

Updated over 3 months ago

⚠️ Important

All access described in this guide applies only to your own merchant account in Adyen. Partners never have access to ValPay internal systems or other merchants. Your customers should never be given Adyen access.

How Partner Access Works

As part of onboarding, the ValPay Integrations team will collect a list of Partner Administrators from your organization.

Partner Administrators

Partner Administrators:

  • Have access to all approved partner-facing permissions in Adyen

  • Can create and manage users within their own organization

  • Can assign permissions based on each user’s role

  • Can only assign permissions that they themselves have

Partner Administrators are responsible for ensuring access is limited to what each user needs.

Permissions Granted to Partner Administrators

Partner Administrators are granted the following core permission:

Account

  • Merchant user management

Create and edit users, and assign any roles and account access that the administrator themselves has.

Important Reminder: ValPay Portal Access

Many day-to-day tasks do not require Adyen access.

Through the ValPay Portal, partners can:

  • View payments

  • Complete refunds

  • View statements

  • View deposits

Because of this, not all team members need access to the Adyen Customer Area. Partner Administrators should only grant Adyen access where it is operationally required.

ℹ️ For more details, refer to the ValPay Portal articles in the Partner Knowledge Base.

Access Governance

  • Partner Administrators can only assign roles they already have

  • Some permissions may require additional approval depending on configuration

  • ValPay may review or restrict access to meet compliance requirements
